Have to play good to look good?

My wife loves golf fashion. Not so much the wildly bright colors but she likes the white pants and plaids, and color coordinating. She buys me "outfits" 3 to be exact over the winter and a few more just last week. I like what she picks out it looks cool, but I havnt worn any yet. My game is so so and don't know if the walk backs up the talk sort to speak. What are your thoughts? Does it matter? Where I live and play the muni's require proper attire and my club obviously requires it. It not like I'm playing in a foursome with people wearing wrangler jeans and cargo pants. Just wondering what the population thinks. I can't be the only person with this issue.

My rule of thumb....If you're comfortable with it then wear it. I wouldn't be too concerned with what other people think about your clothes and/or style. They probably won't even notice to be honest.

If you are not comfortable wearing the stuff I wouldn't recommend trying to play a round in it. If you don't feel right, you probably won't play right. Just my opinion on the scenario.

Pretty much see everything from jeans to tour issue gear at the places I play. I don't worry what other people wear and I wear what I like. Though I have noticed those that look the part tend to be better players. Not talking scratch but the high 70's low 80's guys.

I think as long as you keep to the proper attire of the golf course you play at, then you will be fine. I personally don't like to see people in jeans and t shirts playing.

If you think they (the outfits) look good, wear them. "look good - feel good, feel good - play good"

Wear it and look good.  Doesn't matter how good you play.  IMO there is no reason not to look good on a course.  Even Walmart sells golf shirts and shorts that look good.  Get an outfit for $30.   My wife picks me up golf shirts that would normally be out of my comfort zone(no, not Puma stuff) but I find they actually look good so now I wear them.  I used to be a khaki and white or navy kind of guy but now I'll even wear yellow, lime or peach.....LOL

At 13.8 I don't think you need to worry about whether your golf game is good enough to wear the outfits your wife bought.  I am the same way, I avoid wearing bright or loud golf clothes that will draw attention to me but in general I'm not a flashy dresser.
