Thinking about buying a set of Ping  i20s.

Does anyone play these and have a review?

Thanks.

I've hit the demo clubs a couple of times along with the G20's (so take this with a grain of salt).  I found them to have much more of a blade feel to them than I expected.  I would definitely go try them out before taking the leap.

Thanks, I'll hit them and the g25s.

I have been playing them for about 8 months and really like them. They are very good on off center hits. They look great and have just the right amount of forgiveness. Of course get fit for them- Mine are +1/4 blue dots with soft stepped X100s. Love em!

In the bag-

Driver- Ping Anser 9.5  Diamana Ahina
3 Wood-RBZ tour 15
Hybrid-RBZ tour 4 Irons-  Ping I20s 4-GW with soft stepped X100sWedges 58 and 54 SM4s with soft stepped X100s Putter- Ping TR Senita

Could not disagree with this more. I came from titleist cavity backs (dcis from 1997) and the i20s are roughly 765.43% more forgiving than my old clubs. They are nooooooooothing like a blade. ;)

I have a set of i20s, just bought them last month. Got fitted, project x 5.5 shafts. Man I love my I20s. They are great feeling and performing irons. I sent a lot of $ on them, but they are worth it.

In my bag....

Bombtech Grenade driver. 10.5* Aldila DVS60 stiff, 45"

Ping i20 irons, ProjectX5.5. 5 thru PW.

Tour Edge 3 Hybrid, Adams A7 4Hybrid

Titelist SM4 52-8. 56-12

Cleveland RTX 60-12 wedge.

Tour Edge xcg5 15* 3 Wood

Cheap crappy Wilson putter that works as well as anything for me.

It's a work in progress, I've only been playing for going on two years or so.

Make sure you test and hit the 4i well.  I went 5-GW myself.  I like how the G20 launched better in the 4i.

Well I'm back home from the fitting at Golfsmith in Birmingham.

I hit the i20s, AP1 712s, Callaway ??? and G25s.

The G25 green dot, regular shafts were the right irons for me.

I ordered them so in two weeks they should be at my door.

Thanks for all the info.

I went ahead and bought a Ping cart bag while I was there.

Congrats on the new clubs!

You should have the loft, lie, lengths and SW checked when they come in before you take them home. There should be someone in the GS repair center who can check them out for you. They will probably be right, but a little insurance goes a long way.

I didn't think about them not being correct from Ping. I can apply tape and check them to my swing. I'll ask at my course and see if someone there can check them. It's about a 90 minute drive to Golfsmith.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
