Having real problems with low irons 4\5 often pull hook it or hit a big fade. currently have mp59s dg s300 shafts.

what iv found is with my 6\p iv had to real slow my swing down at transition and in general to get them to work and they are fairly consistent but with 4/5 iron if i slow it down just cant get the ball the required distance or flight. just wondering would it be worth my while going to heavier/ stiffer shaft so i can swing more naturally. any suggestions on shaft? swing speed is 92mph with irons and naturally have a quite aggressive transiton

You maybe trying to hit the longer irons too hard. D-Golds are a heavy-ish shaft so you may want to go with lighter. It is all trial and error and costs can go up. If you can go for a club fitting session you should be able to try a lot of different shafts. PGA tour super stores do this for free.

Have a look on golfclubshaftreview.com for a good shaft fitting guide.

Might be your swing. If your hitting pull hook and big fades, sounds like your coming over the top. I could say that the shaft might change how you load the club, not sure how much it would effect how your face closes or stays open. I would be more inline of posting your swing on the forum and get some advice. If you say you have to really slow down your swing, then something isn't going on correct, sounds like slowing it down causes you to minimize the error in your swing. I hardly ever blame equipment.

As saevel25 said, you may be coming over the top. Whenever I have trouble with OTT, I usually find I'm overswinging going back, and just trying to hit the ball too hard. Might do a mirror check and make sure you're not "reaching too high" on 4i and 5i and throwing your balance off.

If that doesn't work, you might get a lesson to see if swing flaws are contributing to the problem.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
