76 @ 6300 yards is pretty excellent. Shoot a few more like that and you can break into the singles! Nice Job! Klutten3.

Peela, I've been thinking about that. Playing just for the score is wearing off for sure. I need something on the line to keep me going through 18.

I've always enjoyed playing at least $1 skins or something. I bought that Vegas Golf game with the poker chips earlier this year, and it's enjoyable to play. I also joined a traveling league. A little friendly competition always makes things a little more fun to me. How has everyone's season started out so far? Have only broken 80 once so far this season, but feel pretty good about it happening on a semi-regular basis after last season. The goal this year is to break 75 (and maybe hit Par).

Played my first round yesterday. I've played a few practice rounds but wasn't counting them towards my handicap. Shoot a 77. 40 on the front, 37 on the back. Great day, 72 degrees and sunny.

If breaking 80 is your only goal then I would stick to one course but if you can shoot 82 at every course you will be a better golfer than shooting a 79 at a course you know in and out. I tend to lose focus or something too. the other day (at the toughest course I play) I should 3 over on the tougher front and then 10 over on the back. It all started with a double on the easiest hole on the course. mental error. PLAY SMART!!!!

True. I got good by joining a club and playing one course many times. I'm sure there is an actual statistic, but I once heard that when visiting a fresh course, you should allow a 4-5 stroke variance from your home course.

Holy crap, @Finley . Maybe sit out the next few months and you'll be down to low 70s easily! Well done. Heck of a back 9.

Thanks man! Any golf lately? Played a new course yesterday. 46 front, 39 back. Can't wait to play it again.

    • Day 1: 2026.01.03 Played 18 at Cape Kidnappers. Getting back into it after a few days off. Mixed results.
    • Day 40: short range session. Worked on my drill mostly. Finished with some full swings and driver swings. Range was packed because it was so nice out. Solid session though.
    • Day 5, 1/3/26.  Today was a weird day schedule-wise, but I did find 15 minutes to hit 6-iron shots (indoors, off a mat, into a net).  I also got to thinking about yesterday's round and, other than a few thin shots (that I think were weather/grip related), I didn't have any wild non-driver shots, which was weird for me.  I need to get back to video, which is tough in my setup. Also, this wouldn't count on its own, but anyone reading this and thinking about doing their own 5 minutes daily, check out Fit for Golf's latest podcast episode.  It's only a few minutes and Mike does a great job talking about the importance of doing a bit each day.  That also reminded me, I let my FFG subscription lapse, I'm going to renew it.
