Hi there I'm new to this forum - I will introduce myself in the proper forum. But in short: I am 34 year old and started playing last year, in september. By now I love golf and got really addicted. There are a only a few days at which I don't play. My HC is at -14.9 for the moment. Some days I play really good (for my goals) and go to 7-10 over par. Then, on tournaments or free plays, I play like 30 over... But I know why - I try to force on my swing, maybe just a bit - so that I don't even realize it, until my friends tell me about it.... it is always the same cycle: I play smooth & calm, I score good, I then focus on something else, got it in my game and someday I start forcing again (uncounsiencly), my play starts getting worse.... and so one. Now I really want to eliminate that point and asking you how? I do write everything down in a booklet (sort of lil' red book... :-) ) and on every 5th page it stands : Cool down!!!! To tell you that I am trying every thing to do it. But I still don't do it.... I also tried to integrate it in my preshot, but it looses importance somehow with time... Maybe someone had similar problems and do have a receipt for it? (sorry for my bad english) I would really appreciate some tips, Cheers C.

I tried yesterday, to find a melody for my pre-shot-routine. One step will be to swing back-and-forth until I found my swingspeed with repeating this melody in my head. It seems to work really good - it forces me to be calm and actually also helps to have exactly the same swing speed for all clubs. Does this make sense to you? Do you see any negative points with this? My Swing-melody is "My favorite things :-)" One negative aspect is, that I had this song in my head the whole evening long afterward hahaha.... try it ou and tell me

I recommend going into the Reading Room on this site and checking out the "Tour Tempo" thread. I use Tour Tempo and it has helped my game. Before, I always knew that tempo was important, but never knew what good tempo truly was. The audio tones that Tour Tempo uses gives me instant feedback and helps me create a more consistent tempo from one swing to the next.

One thing I have done for a while now (I am new and no expert but it works for me) is the "brush brush" technique as taught by Martin Hall. He did it on School of Golf, you can probably find it on youtube as well. I had a problem as well for a while where I was always trying to kill the ball and I found, I too, need to calm down. Good luck! Its a never ending struggle.

I downloaded the app "Tour Tempo, Total Game" and tried it out yesterday. It is definitely worth trying it and the results - for 2 hours practice - is good, it gives me a good feel and could bring my game to a next stade. The biggest win with this method is - for my point of view - that you learn to swing all clubs/woods with the same swing speed. Thanks to all of you for your tipps. Gonna stick to the Tour Tempo for some time. Greetz C.
