I have nine keys. I'm not sure what they lock or unlock.

One of them is a double-sided type. That can only fit certain kinds of locks. The others are varying sizes, from smaller (padlock?) to larger (house keys?).

Four of them came from the keychain I've carried around in my pocket for the last eight years or so. It currently has only three keys on it - two car keys/fobs and my house key. My Golf Evolution keychain (for accessing our building, my padlock on my locker there, the old building at WWGC, etc.) is in my car. I believe I know what all of those keys are for.

What should my strategy be? I plan to go around my house and try a few locks I know I have, but after that, what? Should just permanently keep them in case they one day turn out to unlock something? They're just keys - it's not like they're a big burden. Maybe I could get a little Tupperware container for "Old Keys?"

Thoughts? :)

You must painstakingly try every key on every lock you encounter.  Only then will you be set free.

Or just toss them.  Either way you are free.

Throw four away, and save the others. Then in 10 years when you guys are crazy famous you can sell the others on ebay as "THE Five Simple Keys."

The only way to find out what any of them is for is to throw 'em away.  It's virtually guaranteed that you'll find out shortly thereafter.......

That's not helpful. :-D

Here's what I'm currently planning to do.

1) Take a picture of the keys I know about. Label the picture with what they open.

2) Put the keys I don't know about in a Tupperware container. Keep this for a long time just in case.

This is what I was thinking too. Murphy's law, basically. Anybody else think that this was a thread about old school teaching methods when they first clicked on it? ;)

I thought it was something Patrick57 did to try to pick a fight.

Probably. The wife thinks that one or two of them are keys to her parents house. A third maybe a key to my parents old house; my childhood house. So it's probably a good idea to keep them for at least a little while. :-)
