So I've been swinging x100s for the last 3 years in my irons, (been playing golf for 4).  I bought the x100s on a hunch and they've worked great! Best part about them is the tight dispersion!  I'm looking to pick up some new sticks and was thinking about changing to project x 6.0 because the x100 may be too stiff for me as I have a 105ss with a driver, but they work.  s300 is too lose I think. I lose shots left and they're noticeably higher launching than the x100s for me.  Should I stick with the x100s or try the px 6.0?

I wish you would have done this last spring, I would have taken the x100's off your hands...

KBS Tour S+ might be a good option if you want something in between a S300 and X100.  I'm personally not a huge fan of the PX shafts, just because they feel a little boardy to me.

If you like the X100 other than stiffness, a soft stepped X100 will get you into the same 6.5 FCM range as the PX 6.0 and KBS Tour S+.

I have S300 and PX 5.5 (no X100 though) and like Mike said they seem like very different animals to me as well. Not that I dislike the PX 5.5, just generally prefer the S300 more.

Have never had any KBS shafts.

SOFT-STEP the X-100's . I was in the same boat as you and it was the best move I've made. Dispersion is still just as tight. Only go with project X if you want less spin.

That's not why. The heavier the mass your swinging the slower the club head speed. That's why Tiger was using a 100+ gram steel driver shaft this week; too slow him down. Dynamic Gold is great for high speed players, because of the weight and medium trajectory flight. Project X is a Tip stiff shaft and it is great for a higher flight and reducing spin rate. You would actually probably gain a half club or more with the PX. They are two different animals, so try it before you make the switch...

the kbs C-taper 130 stiff has mass, feel and a pretty tight dispersion(not likely to go high left) might be an option to consider.

if your club face tends to be slightly close to the path no shaft will help, when I work with tour players I generally adjust lie angles to get the ball to fly straight once they have a shaft that feels good to them and provides a good trajectory

A lot of better players and pga tour players will adjust there lies to ball flight instead of lie boards...if your miss is a push or a hard hook you should try setting your stand bag behind you on the target line place a stand bag in it's 'legs out' position with the base of the bag a couple inches inside the target line and the top of the bag about even with your right hip and avoid hitting the bag which will most likely feel like your cutting across the ball. most stand bags are about the same plane as a 6 iron when the legs are out. You might consider studying 'D'plane a bit it will really help you out to eliminate big sweeping hooks. good luck to you and your shaft selection.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
