Dating Hogan clubs?

Hi All,

New to the forum and fairly new to golf.

I have an ok set of Callaway Big Bertha that I picked up for lunch money and they are fine for me.

But, just interested to know how to date Ben Hogan clubs as I see some sets on eBay and local listings and would love to give them a go as they don't cost too much and i'd like a go with steel (my Callaway are graphite)

I am thinking I might leave a half set of them in the car at all times.

But....there is an overwhelming variety that all have virtually the same name and seem to vary in age.

I've Googled but can't find a data base on the model/dating

Any pointers?

ps other than the weight, what significant things will be different to my graphite?

Do you have an archive for Arnold Palmer sets also?

You may want to try www.ironfinder.com , they show pics and years of manufacture for alot of sets and you can search by manufacturer. Plus you can purchase sets or single clubs if needed.

I feel a bit dumb, but even with that excellent resource web page, I cannot see which model these would be in this picture (which I might be able to pick up very reasonably)

Any ideas?

The BH-5's were introduced in the first fully cast stainless steel irons in the Ben Hogan product line but they were produced by Callaway, not Hogan in 2005.   BH-5's are stainless steel cast construction with extreme perimeter weight design provides maximum playability, control and forgiveness. I think they came in 2 different offsets.

They had the same specs as the Callaway X-14 Pro's but were produced under the Hogan name that Callaway acquired.   They are okay for a beginner but irons have changed since 2005 so they might not be the best choice but not a bad one either.
