question- are you still optimistic?

Just wanted to chime in. Talega is a pretty hard course. So, don't judge anything based on his score.

There is a reason what I am following this thread and it is because I find what he is doing interesting, and the only tool I have to measure his progress is the score he posts.. I have an idea, since not everyone here is going to know how tough the courses are the he plays (I know I wont at least) I suggest that @KyleAnthony post the adjusted score according to the slope & rating of the course? Dear @kyleAnthony the other guy asked that question because he wanted to know if he should keep following this thread or not.. If you said that you were not optimistic then that would give him enough reason to just drop off and follow some other thread! :)

That's a good question.. What I meant was something like this I guess.

Starting Handicap: 14

Round Score: 90 - (18 over)

Ending Handicap: 13

I think this would give a good indication of the toughness of the course..

Also, if you were offended by my question just let me know and I won't ask things like that again.. I can be very blunt and direct sometimes and I'm sorry.

oh umm my index was 13.5, but after i entered my score of 87 at Talega it dropped to 13.0 but it knocked off a 92 at an easy course so that helped more i think

i think your index recalculates every 2 weeks or maybe every month

I see what you are saying.. Maybe it would be helpful for you to list for all of us all the current scores that make up your handicap.. That way we can really follow your progress :)

When do you expect to play the last game before you find out if you had made your goal or not?

Do you already have your games scheduled till that time?  How many of them do you plan on playing?

Since the handicap system doesn't discriminate according to what course you play, do you have any specific strategy on what courses you plan on playing so that you can optimize your chances of reaching your goal?

scores that make up my index are (i think i'll update every time it does)

86               12.9                   71.0/131

89               11.8                   73.9/145

90               12.6                   74.7/137

89               15.7                   70.8/131

uhhh i don't know when the last game will be, my birthday is september 25th so thats the goal and my index will update the 15th, but i'd like to get their before the last moment

i have a few tournaments scheduled between now and then. 5 to be exact

i have been working on course management which has helped a lot. also the tips I'm getting on here and the lessons i am taking are helping with skill and confidence. confidence in shots seems to be my downfall, if i don't think about it i do better so i need to get that down. putting could be a little better, but that comes with practice in reading greens, approach shots are coming together as long as i don't get over excited

    • They're playing 16 games in each match though. Don't need much of an advantage before that number of players significantly loads things in their favor. The other team has to win 8.5 games to beat them. At a 65/35 split, that's a lot and pretty unlikely (about 10% of the time).
    • Why does the second sentence have to be true? If they're used to playing a tough course that's improperly rated, they're going to both have inflated indexes and have higher skills relative to them. If their home course features a variety of different challenges, I don't see why their game wouldn't travel well. And on the flip side, some courses and their members take pride in how hard their course is and how tough it's rated, and that bit of vanity ends up hurting them in these kinds of competitions.
    • I discussed it today but can call back and re-confirm.  I would love to be wrong on that point. Note: That may have been before they changed the hotel due to lack of room at Hampton Inn. Update on Friday Hotel: If I can give a count to EagleSticks they can get us a discount on Friday night at the hotel.  I do not have the $$ but should be much lower than the $249 the hotel quoted me. I do not have my list with me for the Friday hotels but if you want one, please post ASAP and I will get the rate and get them held. Thanks @billchao for catching this.
    • There are plenty of amazing things people are doing every single day, but if other people don't care about it, nobody is going to notice. LPGA is not popular that popular, so despite the great achievement, is not getting any attention and is going to be forgotten very soon. On the other side, if tiger farts louder than normal we are definitively going to know about it because tiger is popular.
    • @StuM when I called the course a couple of months ago they said you can mention that you want to add an extra night to the hotel when you book the package through them and the people who are in charge of the stay and play can handle it, did you ask them about that?
