You don't need any training aids until you read Ben Hogans Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf.

Yes i agree..Ben Hogan was the best teacher i think ever existed. Simply because he simplified the swing in a way you could understand..Hogan's swing also seemed to be down to earth...good call on the book

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

I recommend the momentus over the medicus, I have both and i see much more improvement with the momentus than the medicus. If you use the momentus correctly it will teach you tempo as well as a good inside-out approach. The homemade inside-out training aid is also a good exercise to use. Another thing the momentus forces you to learn to use your lower muscles and not just the upper muscles which might cause you problems.

When I first started, I couldn't hit an iron longer than an 8 iron. Someone gave me their old 5 iron Medicus and it worked for me. It reinforced the one piece takeaway, proper swing plane, and tempo. However, when I was relearning the game (when I had the $h@nk$), it didn't help since I had lower body errors that the medicus did not help.

I proceeded to get the Refiner driver which has helped me with the hybrids through driver.

The makers of this product say it is for a certain type of swing and not all golfers will benefit. I have a Leverage type of swing which is a variant of the one plane swing.

every time i've tried the medicus, it says I break too quickly & hinge my wrists too early. I've hit maybe 2 clean shots with the medicus, and that's it. Yet, my ball striking from sw - 3 iron and drives are on point....go figure.

I own the medicus and it seemed to help for about the first month I used it. My body then "trained" itself just enough to not cause it to break but still do my old bad habits.

If you have a herky jerky swing, it can help you develop a one piece take away and help on tempo. Not a cure all like the ads lead you to believe.

Please share ur thoughts on this, i have thought about getting one but wondered how good it really works and if its worth the money.

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

The 5 iron really helped me with most of the clubs in the bag. I got it for free from someone.

The driver was a bit heavy.

The Refiner is actually a lot lighter. If I practice nightly with the driver, I actually do well. If I did not use it regularly my swing atrophies (breaks down). However, I am finding that I do not have to use it as long (I used to swing 20 swings/night). Now I do about 5-7 swings over a training mat and an empty tee in the driveway (I know the neighbors have to be wondering what in the heck I am doing).

I use the Momentus to warm up. Not as a game improvement/swing improvement club.

    • Wow that was disingenuous. Like, let’s ignore that golfers actually rotate. It isn’t all side bend. Has incorrect or excessive side bend hurt golfers sure. In no way are golfers taught to just fling their hips towards the target. To basically claim it’s him versus this evil golf instruction industry is just disingenuous.

    • I'm starting to move with some speed and confidence. Carried the fairway bunker 225 yards out on the 17th yesterday fairly comfortably. I don't think it was a one off drive either. Pretty much back to game speed. On another note it doesn't seem like my pelvis is nearly as thrusty compared to a this time last year. I hope I'm judging that correctly. It's an ongoing battle.
