Have a soft spot for Uruguay, simply because Gustavo Poyet coaches my team (Sunderland) and I think he's going places. However, I think even this slightly inadequate England side will beat them, not least because Suarez, who despite being as mad as a box of frogs is a genius, cannot possibly be fit.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Suarez was fit enough to do that.

OK, so I was mistaken about Suarez. Right about England being slightly inadequate, though...

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

Even if England loses they still might have a shot. Italy will probably beat Costa Rica. That would leave Italy with 6, Costa Rica & Uruguay with 3, and England with 0. If England beats Costa Rica and Italy beats Uruguay, then Italy finishes with 9 & it's a GD battle at 3 points with England, Uruguay, and CR. This is obviously looking way too far ahead lol.

England are well capable of failing to beat Costa Rica.

And if both this match and Costa Rica-Italy end in draws, and England and Uruguay win next week, the whole group would be tied at four points! (Highly unlikely.) England can survive a loss; Uruguay can't. I think England will score the equalizer in the second half; a draw puts them in a much better position to advance, because Costa Rica is a far lesser opponent than Italy.

Relentless attacking by Uruguay to start the second half. How didn't they score?

Cavani really should have netted

Atrocious from England. No shape, no composure, no imagination. Honestly, it's like watching a non - league team.

The more I practise, the luckier I hope to get.

England needs to create scoring opportunities, rather than waiting for them to appear. EDIT: Just like that.
