Does anyone have a net at home? Do you even practice at home? Perhaps your swing, or a small putting green set up? I'm just interested to see how often and where most practice.

I recently purchased a driving net for my small back yard. Its great for practice between rounds.

I have a 30-pack of limited flight balls and my back yard is a park...so I get out there when the weather is good. I also live about 1/2 a mile down the road from a fairly large driving range...it's 2 levels and heated in the winter. To make things even easier I work about 5 minutes from an indoor golf center and I love using the launch monitor there on the virtual range to check speed/flight/accuracy.

Right now I live in an appartment... but my dream is this

I will live in NC, about 20 minutes outside Charlotte. I will live on a 1 acre lot or larger and have a nice sized pole barn. In that barn will be my artificial green with a practice bunker and a hitting area with video camera and mirrors.

I use an Explanar almost daily

Thats not fair

. I love the idea of using the Explanar, but have never been able to try one out. Do you own one or do you use one at a club?
I use an impact bag to ensure that I stay in the right position at impact and to develop more power.

I have never understood the impact bag as a training device and haven't found a good explanation of one on the internet with brief searching, how do you go about using it?

I have a putting mat in my house that I used everyday all winter. I also live out in the country and my backyard is a cornfield so I use it as a driving range until they plant. They planted a little late this year so I got some extra time. I also have a practice net but I have yet to even open the box. I just can't get myself to hit balls into it because I want to be able to see the flight of the ball. I have a chipping net that I set up in the yard too.

I went the other day to golf galaxy to buy some birdie balls and they didnt have any....Has anyone here ever used the birdie ball. Or those Dave Pelz practice balls?

I would guess that the main idea of an impact bag is to be able to see what position you are in exactly at impact (hands, arms, chest, hips, club face, shaft of club....etc.) You know?...instead of trying to take a swing and stop at impact to check your positions (which doesn't really work seeing as you will most likely subconsciously change you're swing when thinking about stopping at impact...leading to incorrect info in regards to your positions at impact) you can actually take a real swing and just place the bag at the desired "ball" position.

    • Back in my Army days a "gooch" was a particular part of the anatomy. Example, say Okeechobee is the b-hole of Florida, then Belle Glade would be the gooch. Seems he wears his name well.
    • I can't say that I remember a lot of individual putts, but I do have one specific memory.  The first time I played the Old Course, I had hit a pretty good drive on the 6th hole.  I had about 60 yards left, and due to the swale in front of the green, there was no chance of flying a wedge on or near the green and having it stop on the green.  My caddie recommended either a running 7-iron chip or a putt, and I took the putter and a pretty hard swing.  The ball rolled over humps and through hollows, disappeared into the swale in front of the green, and re-appeared heading right at the hole.  I ended up maybe 12 feet away.  The caddie turned and held out his hand to shake mine, and said "Now THAT was a golf shot!"
    • For the first time since 2021, I made a 3 on the 12th at Stoneleigh.    395 yards, something like 80 feet uphill, I hit a solid drive and a 7-wood to inside a foot.  Even I couldn't miss that one.  I feel like I haven't played a lot of golf this year, but I'm making decent progress.
