Hi Guys , New to the site. Dave is my name.

Basicaly my first question to you all is . . .  I got some info from a friend of mine today when i was talking to him about cg7 zip groove irons , that certain  Ping eye 2 models have "box grooves"that give a phenomenal amount of spin. I am aware that there are the Ping Eye 2 and the Ping Eye 2 Plus . . .. . what i am wondering is , which ones have these grooves????????????

I am looking at a set of Ping Eye 2 Plus beryllium copper tomorrow and was wondering does this model have these grooves?

If anyone can help i would really appreciate it , Thanks Dave

  1. Eye2 Irons and Wedges
  2. Because Eye2 irons and wedges have a unique history, and various versions of this PING model were made from 1982 to 1990, these clubs require a more complex summary, which is as follows:
    1. V grooved Eye 2 irons and wedges (NOTE: these were made from 1982 to 1984, and each has the following unique marking - the top bar "Karsten Mfg. Corp. Phoenix, AZ 85068 USA" runs from the heel of the head to the toe, which makes it appear "upside down" when looking at this lettering when the club is in a golf bag).
      • Conform to all USGA and R&A; groove rules in effect at all levels of play
    2. U Grooved Eye2 irons and wedges (NOTE: these were made from 1984 through March 1990, and each has the following unique marking - the top bar "Karsten Mfg. Corp. Phoenix, AZ 85068" runs from the toe of the head to the heel, - which makes it appear "right side up" when looking at this lettering when the club is in a golf bag):
      • Conform at all non-professional events played under the USGA Rules of Golf (including all USGA amateur national championships, both before and after 2013);
      • Do not conform at professional tour events or any other events that have adopted the 2010 Condition of Competition; and
      • Do not conform at any events played under the R&A; Rules of Golf (and have not since 1996).
    3. U Grooved Eye2 irons and wedges modified by PING in the mid 1990's (Because the R&A; deemed U grooved Eye2's non-conforming beginning in 1996, PING modified the grooves on a number of these sets in the mid-1990's, and kept records of the serial number of each modified set):
      • Conform until at least 2024 at nearly all non-professional events played under the R&A; and/or the USGA Rules of Golf;
      • Do not conform at professional tour events or any other events that have adopted the 2010 Condition of Competition; and
      • Will not conform at any national amateur championships conducted by the USGA and/or the R&A; held after 2013.
    4. Eye2+ iron and wedges (these clubs were made beginning in early 1990, and each has U grooves):
      • Conform until at least 2024 at nearly all non-professional events played under the R&A; and/or the USGA Rules of Golf;
      • Do not conform at professional tour events or any other events that have adopted the 2010 Condition of Competition; and
      • Will not conform at any national amateur championships conducted by the USGA and/or the R&A; held after 2013.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.

After 4 worlds I run out of worlds that have the letters I've already found that can be combined with the remaining letters.. just repeated the 4th world to knew the answer. I know the world but it never came to my mind.
