This $10 million is all a hype !!! This is not a cash prize but rather an annuity payable to the players once they reach 65 years of age. In the case of Tiger or Phil, that is well over 20 more years. The present value of this prize is well below $3million and this is the reason that the players are not too worked up about it. Hell.. there are documented cases of the "major name players" receiving "show-up" guarantees in excess of $1million for some tournaments & special events.

If your Tiger woods (whose annual gross earnings for prizes, endorsements, etc are conservatively estimated at well over $90 million) this prize is "interesting" but not nearly as valuable as a major title .. Hence the lack of real enthusiasm from the big boys....

No, It's $10M, and it begins earning interest the day you win it. For some players, the value when they retire could be $30M+.

Not on the PGA Tour, which disallows appearance fees.

You're not off to a great start here... it'd be tough to put more incorrect information into a shorter post than you've managed to do here.
