I am looking for a shag bag that will last.  Most of the ones I have looked at online have pretty lousy reviews.  Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks

I have one that's a long plastic tube.  Fits in your bag like another club.  Absolutely bullet proof.  Only downside is that it only holds 21 balls, but that's plenty for me......

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li
Hybrids: Titleist 910H 19* and 21* Diamana Kai'li
Irons: Titleist 695cb 5-Pw

Wedges: Scratch 51-11 TNC grind, Vokey SM-5's;  56-14 F grind and 60-11 K grind
Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi S
Ball: ProV1

I was thinking about making one of those out of the tube part of one of the shag bags I have now (that's falling apart). I want it to be long enough to reach a ball out to the side of the tractor as I'm mowing the range. (If I can figure a good place for it to ride on the tractor). Both shag bags I have now have a fairly plastic looking bag part and both are ripping at the top seams and one at the zipper seams. Next time I buy one I think I'm going to try the cloth type. P.S. I keep around 100 balls in the yard to hit down toward the flag and chipping green so I like for the bag to hold close to that many. I'm not sure exactly how many mine hold but I know I have the bag full and more in my pockets to pick up all of them, but I can get them all in one trip.

Expensive but rock solid and they last forever.

I've never owned "The Original" like the one posted above, but the old pro I used to work with had one that looked about 100 years old that he let me use all the time. As dmnoland said, they are rock solid.

I have a shag bag made by Jones, who makes old school carry bags. this thing is bomb proof with a plastic tube. it was made in 1989 for some member guest in california. I got it in 2008 and it works great.

sorry I looked at Jones site and they no longer sell them, The current tommy armour style looks a lot like mine

I have the Original Bag Shag too.  I've had mine for 11 or 12 years and it's as good as new.  The tube and handle are metal, and the "bag" is made out of heavy canvas with a pretty stout zipper.  It's heavy, especially when it's filled with balls, but like dmnoland said, it's heavy duty and will last a long time. I have 60 balls in mine, and it has room for more.

David, do you remember the brand on the tube?

Mine is a ZTech, but I've seen others like it.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
