I have not yet had the lucky opportunity to play more than 27 holes in one day. And that is mixed with cart.

My father says he and his buddies used to wake up at the crack of dawn and start the day at 5am and WALK 54 holes. I would also like to try this as well, but sounds pretty hardcore.

After that they would have a meal and play poker till they passed out...

In the past, I've played 36 holes each day for 2 days in a row, but not recently. Back in the mid 80's, a friend and I would get out to the course about 4 AM, play 18 at sunup, have lunch in the restaurant, then go out and play 18 more. We would sometimes do it on both Saturday and Sunday. Back then I always walked.

Always take a cart. I've gotten in 36 in one day before. Got up at 7, hit the road at 8 with my buddies, got there by 9. Played 18, got food, relaxed, and then played another 18. Came back at like 6 in the evening.

It's too hot out there not to take a cart in the summer. And, since the only time I've ever taken golf seriously is after I gained 40+ lbs on medicine, I've never been able to walk nine holes, really anyway.

I actually walked 27 but since that wasnt an option, I rounded up!

Heaven is 630 a.m. Saturday morning, 65 crisp degrees headed toward a comfortable 80, first tee (elevated, of course) . . . and not another worry in the world.

I assume you mean in a single day, because otherwise I've done far more, given the rarity with which I take a cart.

I played in the longest day in golf one year, it was on June 21 the longest day of the year. It was a fund raiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. We started at 04:00 and played all day long going around and around the course as quickly as we could to play as many holes as we could. We had people sponsor us so much per hole. We played some really good golf and some really bad golf. We ended up playing 154 holes of golf that day. We raised over $6000.00 for the charity. It was a lot of fun but by the end we were very tired. My back hurt so much I didn't play again for 3 weeks. I sure felt good about what we had done though.

Played 36 in cart and walked 24 more, ran out of daylite. The local course pro would let us out early and play for free if stuck the flags in and moved the tee markers. (Tilden park and lake chabot, bay area, CA.)

That would kill my back too, but surely you weren't walking....

That's equivalent to 8.55 rounds... at the generally estimated average of 4 to 4.5 miles per 18 holes, that's at least 32 miles covered.... most people couldn't walk that far in a day even if they weren't playing golf.

My buddy & me played 63 holes in one day when we were around 16. Back then there wasn't as many people playing, so a lot of times we could play 18 in around two hours. I was always trying to equal what my dad did when he was young. He had played 72 holes in one day without a cart.

I walked 9 holes once when we really wanted to play after it had rained a lot and they weren't letting carts out. I learned my lesson- never again.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
