Needs a special mower for the green. Sewed his own flags. This, is DIY. Has to mow it every other day for 45min though.

I love this.  The reddit feed is a good read.  He has a great attitude about it, isn't striving for perfection, just decided to give it a try.  For $1300 total investment, not bad at all.

When I was a kid, I had a neighbor that put in a green like this, a little smaller, but a high quality putting surface.  He would pay me to mow it every morning with a push mower.  That was a ton of work, but necessary.  Good memories.  I remember he was trying out for the tour while working full-time.  Never did make it.  But he was good.

That is really cool, but just too much work for me ... That's why I went artificial. Like the 3 tee box, 3 flag + beer concept.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to maintain a natural grass putting green!!   With all the excellent artificial options these days, why do all that work?

If I wanted a green, I'd hire somebody to install an artificial one.   No doubt about it....
