Good Omen

I took a half day today to play 18.  It was drizzling on the way to the course.  I took a side road through a residential area and I saw this lady, carrying a baby also holding a dog on a leash.  She flagged me down.  She was very distraught and said, almost in tears, "be careful not to hit my other dog down the street.  He got out and I have been chasing him for a hour."

I said, "OK" and proceeded to drive slowly until I came even with the dog.  It was a little Yorkie.  I stopped, opened my door and said, "come here fella" and did my best to get him to come over.  He did.  I scooped him up.  The little guy was soaked and shivering.

I walked him back to the lady.  She had been chasing him for an hour carrying her child in the rain.  She is also five months pregnant.  She had a small kitchen fire in the toaster oven and opened to door to let the smoke out when the Yorkie took off.

I carried the dog back to her house.  She was grateful but exhausted.

Then I went to the course and proceeded to have my best round of the year, and 80.  The course was empty except for a few groups.  I did 18 in 2:30 (I caught up with a few twosomes at the end).  Good day all around.  Three birdies.

Of course I had to explain why I smelled like a Yorkie to my beagle, Skippy when I got home.

Nice story. I can only imagine her telling someone how lucky she was that some nice man happened to come by at the right time... a bright spot in an otherwise crappy day for her. You probably made her day.
