I recently purchased a set of MP 64's with Project X 5.5 shafts. I've played MP 62's with Project X 6.0's and JPX 825 pro's with X100 Dynalite XP shafts in the past. Didn't notice much of a height difference with the dynalite shafts which were supposed to be a higher ball flight. I have noticed that with the Project X 5.5's I'm hitting the ball a lot higher than I did with the 6.0's and X100 which I had more of a penetrating to low ball flight. The reason why I went to the 5.5's is because I felt that I was unable to make a smooth swing or 3/4 swing with with the stiffer shafts without them felling stiff.I haven't noticed any real loss of distance but I find that my ball sticks a lot better on the green then with the previous shafts which I'd usually get roll and had problems sticking on the green at times. I usually find my ball approximately two feet or less from my divots on the green, not getting much roll. My concern is wether the ball is ballooning or not?

Does it look like the ball is ballooning when it's in the air?

It seems to just fall after it hits it's peak, the problem is I don't know what a ballooning shot would look like. I haven't noticed any lost of distance from my previous irons only that the new ones I hit much higher.

Higher doesn't mean the ball is ballooning, just that the it's launching higher. If you haven't lost any distance then it's probably fine.

Ballooning would be were you see the ball "rise" in the air. It take off on one trajectory and keeps getting higher and higher.

Yep

The bottom line is the ballooning, starts off very low and rises up sharply about 1/3 to 1/2 way out.

The top line is a high launch low spin. It might actually look higher, just because it starts off higher. Overall you can end up with very similar max heights on the two shots.

Notice how much further the top line goes. It carries about as far as the ballooning shot, and rolls out farther because it actually has a shallower entry angle to the ground and less spin.

    • Day 4 (24 Jun 26) - Played the mid-week shootout - iffy day on putts as I had 35 and of late been in the upper 20's.   Greens recently verti-cut and they are a bit bump and long haired - no excuses as I need to learn to trust making the proper adjustments.   Overall a decent day with some solid long game shots.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
