No brainer for me since I'm a Prime member. $19 for Prime subscribers but only for next 2 days. Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Espn, Showtime, PBS, NBA. Plus a remote.

Quote:
Amazon is finally taking on the Chromecast. This morning it's introducing the Fire TV Stick, a streaming device that exists entirely in a small dongle that plugs into a TV's HDMI port. Amazon says that the Fire TV Stick offers the "same experience" as the full Fire TV, which was introduced back in April. It can play games and is able to stream from the major services that you'd expect: Watch ESPN, YouTube, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and, of course, Prime Instant Video. The Stick goes on sale for $39 beginning November 19th and is currently available for preorder. Prime subscribers can get it for $19 for the next two days.

I am just waiting for one of these devices which would interact with high speed internet, that will also offer local channel programming. I just switched from Netflix to Hulu Plus. I had watched everything Netflix had to offer.

In My Bag:
A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

I am about to get rid of cable and this might be the route. The only thing holding me up is missing the golf channel coverage of tournaments. Anybody know of any way around this.

If you know someone's ISP account details, like Verizon FIOS, you can stream TGC, but you'll need a PC to do so. This is what I do, but sometimes picture quality isn't HD. Streaming is always a potentially dodgy process for these sports channels. Perhaps you could screencast an Android or Apple tablet and similar issues as above apply.

Basically, the answer is no, there is no way to do so, legally. The illegal streams are very hit and miss. And increase your chances of getting infected.

Using my iPhone as a remote w/CC. Laggy. Unresponsive. Better with my Android tablet, but I prefer using the phone. The Fire Stick comes with a remote. Only newer Android devices can cast Amazon vids. iOS cannot. iOS remote app to come supposed to do voice commands. The guts - more memory, storage, faster CPU.
