When I tested the BB 7i, I got the same performance as the RSI 7i. The clubs are super hot and long. I was joking with the salesman about a 200 yard 7i in the near future. My main issue with it is that to use the set where the PW hits as far as it does, you end up needing a set of 4 wedges. So, I end up purchasing this set and new wedges just so I can make a set like my current set of 8 clubs. There's no real advantage to me.

You mean an additional 4 wedges, right? 48 - 60

Right. I am exaggerating just a little bit, but the clubs are incredibly light and long.

I carry four wedges and have for years.  I carry a 45, 50, 55 and 58.

I call the first two wedges: 9i (46), PW (50). Then I carry 52 and 60. Might replace my 52 with a 56 again someday, but I like my partial swings with the 52 too much. The BB PW was unreasonably different than my current 9i. It would kill what teeny bit of a short game I have now.

Mike is right... the lofts getting stronger is a product of "padded distance" with irons... and egos of manufacturers... But here's part of the reason, that now I am starting to accept... since I would guess when Ping released the Eye2 in 1983 (well the fall of '82), when: Game improvement, super game improvement, and ultra game improvement irons were in their infancy, the problem was the perimeter weighting of the irons, lowered the CG so much that the ball flight tended to balloon... for example the eye2 7I had a static loft of 36°... As the CG has gotten lower and further back, the static loft of irons has had to get lower... but the ball launches the same if not higher than a player's irons... Just as a side note, game improvement irons static loft has changed immensely in the last 30 years... Eye2 6I: 32 PW: 50.5 BB 6I: 26 PW: 44... nearly a 1.5 club difference... Players clubs have strengthened but not really that much... Titleist Tour Model '85: 6i: 33 PW: 49 Titleist 714 MB: 6I: 31 PW: 47... 2 degrees stronger... but Muscleback Blades have changed very little over the last half century... Personally... the piece of golf equipment that has gone through the most change, even over the last decade is the golf ball, the golf ball has gotten more and more durable, advance so much from the wound balls of the previous 2-3 decades...
