Putting in the sand trap!

Played 18 today and I don't know what was up I've never seen this before, sand on the green a little bit yea to protect it from the cold. But not this anyone ever have to deal with this?

Only when I decided to play a few holes after top dressing and before dragging it in and watering it.

LOL......are you sure this golf hole wasn't closed for course maintenance?

A couple things strike me as very odd.........

This green has not been dragged or watered.......2. there is only 1 set of footprints on the green!! OBVIOUSLY YOURS!!!...and this is MID-DAY!!

This makes me think you snuck onto a golf hole closed for maintenance.......... LOL..........nice try though!!

When aerating, the sand topdressing is added after punching the greens........these greens have not been punched. 2. Lol! I knew the guy I paid in the club house looked suspicious! They usually start putting the sand down around this time of year here, usually you can't really see it or noticed it till you pick your ball up or put your putter back in your bag and it's coated with sand. I talked to the guys in front of me while waiting on them to hit and they were clueless to as to why the greens were like that. Not all of them were like that I'd say maybe a 3rd of the holes were though.

It should be fine in a few days. Where I play, in the early morning, the ball will leave marks in the dew.

What really pisses me off is when a course punches and sands the greens and they don't tell when you book a time.  They charge you full price at the shop and you don't find out about it until you're on the first green.

You are preaching to the choir Gary!   I've learned over the years to always ask the conditions of the greens and when they were aerated when making tee times especially during aeration season!!

I have a good story to share from 20+ years ago!

I had a rare weekday off and decided to take a small golf road trip.   I lived in Columbus Ohio and decided to drive 120 miles to Cincinnati to play 36 holes at a course that I heard great things about.    I called the day before to let them know I was driving 120 miles as a single to make sure I could get on. We had a nice conversation, we talked about the course, and they said come on down!......there will be no problem pairing me up!!   So off I went at 430am the next morning............

I arrive and the greens had just been aerated!.....and they were in the process of plugging the bent grass fairways! The course was an absolute MESS!!!!   I was so mad!!!....how could they omit this KEY information knowing I was driving 120 miles???   I decided it was my fault because I didn't ask the question that needed asking.  Ever since that day,  I always take full ownership of knowing course conditions, because the course sure as hell will not tell the golfer.   If you ask, they will tell you. I learned a tough lesson that day.

When you travel 120 miles to play somewhere different, I would have expected/demanded a refund/credit note!

Yeah, they did that at my home course three weeks ago. The committee voted the local rule for the week: "One putt if you can make it, two putts max per green." And this is aeration season. Fairways were two weeks later. And now it's driving range season. I'm not going to be playing until April. My home course is a swamp until late April, and my other favorite course is finally playable in early April.
