Not compact.

That's a very violent move you're putting on the ball there.

You might want to post a video of a more controlled swing.

You look like you're trying to hit it as far as you can.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Welcome to the site, @dwfrench . Lots of good stuff here. If you have high-speed video (on YouTube especially), you should start a My Swing thread and use it as a diary or notebook of sorts.

Compact as in nice and tight with no excess body movements in which you lose power. This is a very controlled swing of mine I have an explosive move on the downswing that allows me to generate power through a quick hip move, followed by the rest of the body. If you notice why I consider this controlled is that I am able to maintain balance throughout the swing. Having a tight, simple swing allows you to swing harder at the ball while keeping things accurate and consistent. But this is just a comfortable swing for me. I believe that when you start to guide things around the golf course and take some distance off it leads to a lack of commitment and consistency, as the percent you take off can vary from swing to swing.
