How can I remove label glue from graphite shafts?

YOu didn't try the White Gum Eraser... but since NOBODY uses an actual pencil anymore, that could be hard to find...

You can buy these at Staples, etc. Since wooden pencils have faded out in favor of mechanical pencils, you can find these erasers as separate items.

Alas, I had left my white gum at school, so couldn't use it in the glue removal laboratory (which my wife refers to as the kitchen).

A lot of times the glue used is oil soluble. Put a bit olive oil (or whatever you have in kitchen) in paper tower and off it goes.

I use the automotive adhesive remover I bought at our local NAPA.   Does a great job in very short order, will not damage paint and has a ton of other uses both on cars and around the house.

Peel label off carefully, remove excess stubborn glue with fingernail! No chemicals or sharp objects required!

If you don't have mineral spirits or paint thinner in your shop (do NOT use lacquer thinner - that will remove the finish from graphite) ... go out to your garage, put a little gasoline on a rag & voila, goo gone.

For steel shafts, laquer thinner is the fastest common solvent to use
