It didn't cross my mind, but those golf balls look like croc eggs dont they? Reckon the fellow found a pile of them thinking they were golf balls? That would have been a bad, mad, croc-mom scene.

In Florida, gators (unlike crocs) are less likely to attack humans for food. But I knew a kid who, while picking up golf balls, had been bitten by a smaller female guarding her eggs. Had a nasty scar on his wrist.

I read of a story of an eighty year old man getting his arm bitten off while trying to get a ball at Fripp Island,SC. If I am near the coast in the south east, I am taking a drop, and not even looking for my ball. Also, I would imagine it was a long trip to the hospital. Fripp is a pretty good ride from Beaufort.

It helps to have some degree of awareness of the local flora & fauna , which will likely be encountered in the region of the world where one is playing - is it unreasonable to expect to find crocodiles in lakes in South Africa? I don't know, but where I live and play golf these days (southern U.S.), I am far too afraid of the dreaded copper-headed water rattler that apparently turns around and chases you, to bother paddling in the lake to retrieve a $1 Noodle....

Brother, I will send you 2 slabs of Q for that qoute. Just tell me the address.
