ha, I am not the only one who thinks a gripped shaft can be used for practicing one's swing / and I could definitely not swing like this guy if I hadn't found out about my fault with the gripped shaft

here we go:

Plus this shows my point. This professional teacher has obviously absolutely no problem, unlike me, to swing a gripped shaft at full speed, full swing. Using both arms, it makes no differenc eto him.  To me, it means I was right when I said not being able to swing a gripped shaft with both hands without losing speed shows a big mistake in one's swing.

These are all drills. The idea is to use the drills to gain speed when you are doing a proper golf swing.

BTW, I also watched this video, but drew a slightly different conclusion than you did. They both also use two arms in all the drills.

So I hope we can agree that a gripped shaft is sometimes used for some drills. But most people will not agree with me that a gripped shaft can reveal a huge mistake if one is not able to swing one freely with their both hands.

Peace and thanks everyone for sharing their thoughts on this issue.

This might be true, but the thread title is just a little misleading.

This might be true, but the thread title is just a little misleading.

I know, I started the thread being puzzled so it started as a question, then I - as I believe - solved the problem - and then I discussed the meaning of a gripped shaft for learning a swing which to most is completely irelevant -

I can accept this - that people have different opinions.  I have a friend golfer, who is near scratch, and who I play with ocassionally,  I asked him the same question, sent him a video myself awkwardly trying to swing a gripped shaft with both hands and he told me just like most people here, that it doesn't matter taht I have a problem swinging that shaft with both hands, then a few days later I sent him a video where already I could swing the gripped shaft freely and quickly, and he still doesn't think it is very relevant. So I give up, I will keep this to myself.

No reason to do that, but if there is a compelling argument for or against something it would help to try to understand all sides before we accept or condemn something new.

I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to increase your swing speed with a shaft, but there are people who are attempting it with another approach. See this thread.

Thank you for that response and the link, I'll have a look.

Doing overspeed training with just a gripped shaft is not a good idea. You're going to want a little bit of weight on the end to protect your wrists.

He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..

That’s the spirit! Rejuvenating a thread that’s 9 years old!😃
