Hi,

I have a golf trip booked in orlando where we are playing:

Championsgate - International

OCN - Panther Lake

OCN - Crooked Cat

Shingle Creek

A few of us are getting in a day early and want to play an extra round. We are looking to play close to where we have to check in so i have narrowed it down to these courses.  Which course do you all recommend out of hte bunch or which few are your favorites?

orange lake - legends
waldorf astoria
celebration golf
ritz carlton
falcon's fire

Thanks!

In order... Waldorf Astoria Panther Lakes Crooked Cat Ritz Carlton Shingle Creek Celebration Falcons Fire Orange Lake Champions Gate international You might also do a quick search on the site and you'll find a bunch of other people's recommendations and favorites too. Have fun, the weather's great right now and most of the courses are in great shape!

Interesting timing for this as I'm heading there Thursday for a mini-golf trip with a buddy.  We're playing:

Southern Dunes (about 45 min S of Orlando airport)

OCN Panther Lake and Crooked Cat

Then Saturday we're driving over to World Woods to play Pine Barrens

Does time ever go by ANY slower than the 48 hrs before a golf trip?

Thanks David. Also where would you put Grand Cypress New and the disney courses on that list?

I'd put Disney Magnolia somewhere around the Ritz/Shingle Creek. Better than the Palm. Grand Cypress a spot or two lower. I know there are a lot of fans of Grand Cypress, but the conditions there are just too hit and miss for me. All just my opinion, of course. Yeah I've been glued to the forecast for as long as they've been out.  I think we'll be okay.  Rain on Thursday is supposed to end in the morning and then we're fine after that.  We don't tee off Southern Dunes until 1.

Looking forward to it!

I've only played a handful of courses in Orlando last year.

If I had to rank them

Tied 1) Southern Dunes

Tied 1) Champions Gate - International

3) Shingle Creek

4) Falcon's Fire

5) Champions Gate - National

I am sure I'll have another handful to rank after this April. Heading back down to Orlando for another golf trip :-D

I'd take the Ritz Carlton on that short list, and I've played them all but Orange Lake but heard that one is worth missing. Ritz is very nice, fun, fair, and quaint. Nothing but wilderness.

    • Day 54. Was in a good place last week. Yesterday’s round killed my confidence.  Full swing practice trying to get back to where I was but struggled with being tired and tense. Back to basics tomorrow.
    • Welcome back! Evolvr.com? I don't use the full extreme end of it, and that's probably dipped to 75% or so nowadays. But I use the sole more than I don't, yeah. Also… it's good to learn this shot: Middle up. Not generally outside your feet in either direction. I generally have it slightly forward of center, yeah. Short version: tip your upper body in the direction of the slope. Look at the GC3. You can find them for really good prices sometimes.
    • 3 rainouts in a row….that’s SAD Sorry, I’m in MI or I would take you up on a round.
    • Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.
    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
