Hi, I've recently been looking at a lot of VLOGS of Mark Crossfield and since me and my friend are going to Tenerife I was wondering what equipment people use.
So it's not about swing analysis, more about hitting the ball and then bein able to zoom to where it lands (no more than 250 meters ;-) ).

I've already searched some forums but nothing quite related to what I'm searching and with all the new technologies and such it's hard to understand the market.

Budget would hopefully be below 500 euro. 300 if possible.

Golf on !

Crossfield uses (as of last time I checked) a GoPro with a special handheld mount that's counterweighted for stability.

I would say it would be a decent way to go if you had someone else playing golf with you. If I was by myself I would think a tripod or an attachment that can sit on the golf bag or cart would work better.

A tripod or any fixed attachment would take a lot of effort moving it around between two shots. Especially since you might want to get in on things like the lie or face or move around once the shot happens, or film while moving, I don't think it's practical. Hand held where you switch off between shots seems more versatile for a more fun / interesting video.

Yes it would defintely be handy if it were handheld, me filming a friends shot and watch it land when zooming in. Like those vlogs. But do you have any idea about alternatives ? Ive just watched his latest vlog and it seems like a professional cam. but considering a gopro do you need a shoulder stabiliser ? You cant just take the gopro and zoom and such? Or would that greatly reduce quality ? Or would a regular videocorder do the trick ? For example http://www.amazon.co.uk/JVC-GZ-RX115-Camcorder-Black-Optical/dp/B00IUC9GIC and what would be ket factors and numbers? So full hd, 60fps ? 120? battery size? Sorry for all the questions!

I vlog with a tripod stuck in my golf bag. All I have to do is line up the bag how I want to frame the shot and a quick check to see if any adjustment needs to be made. You can't get cool details of the lie and all that, but honestly that kind of stuff comes out poorly on video, anyway. It's just hard to show depth on a 2D medium. You're still playing golf, not shooting a movie. Unless the course is empty and you have some understanding partners, you don't have all the time in the world to play with shots.

    • Day 138 - Hit some balls at lunch in a bay with a Foresight monitor. Good to get the feedback hitting real balls instead of my usual foam balls, although it was a pretty frustrating session. My ball striking, as it has been on the course, was awful. I’d follow a great shot with a bad mishit. A lot of work to do.
