I'm really working on my swing improvement (with evolvr) and play 1-2 rounds per week.  My best round is 96  around a short course, SSS of 67.  I don't feel confident enough to use any of my woods or hybrid so my 4 iron is the longest club I use.  My ball flight is generally a cut with the longer irons due to my OTT swing. My average GIR is 20% and my putts per hole average is 2.0.

Clubs - Ping G10 - 4-SW and 18° Hybrid, Taylormade 3W

What if anything should I purchase or do next to aid my progress.  Thanks

Matt

I am right where you are. Shooting around 100. Here is what I have been doing and my recommendations if they count for anything...

- lessons. you are getting them through evolvr. I am too. Keep that up definitely. If you are going to spend more money get more lessons. :)

- learning to drive. get a driver and learn to drive. you should definitely have one and learn to use it. i have seen experts say beginners should learn to drive first and experts say they should learn to drive last. so i guess its up to you. personally i like driving and LSW wins says its your most important shot to get good at.

- get Lowest score wins. it will help show you what you should focus on and give you good practice tips. its only like $30 and a good quick read

- i just picked up the golf app V1 analyzer. It was like $4 on android. essentially i can compare my evolvr videos to pros side by side. its awesome. i can see what i am messing up. It also helps my evolvr lessons because i can see when they tell me to do something how i am not and how the pros are. I think this was an awesome 4 dollar investment.

- otherwise just get out there and play/practice. i am still not sure if i should be spending more time on the range or course but i figure either is super helpful for us since we are just learning

Driver - Ping G15 12 Degree Loft
3W - Ping G10
3 Hyrbrid - Ping G15
4-PW - Taylormade Burner 2.0
Putter - Ping Anser 2

Hi, thanks for the reply, you've made some great recommendations!

My evolvr lessons are great and I initially contemplated having extra one to one coaching locally but as I've been told and found out to my cost, good instructors are very hard to find.  Also, something

@iacas said in this post really sums it up.......

No matter how many lessons I have and who with, makes no difference if I don't commit the time to making the change!  I won't have a coach by me every time I play.......although it would be nice!

I've got a Driver, probably not a very good one but that doesn't really matter at the minute.  I have been saying that I need to start practicing with my Driver and Woods, lack of distance is definitely holding me back.  I will endeavour to take the head cover off this week and give it a blast.

Could not agree more!  I don't know why I didn't include this in my poll...............it's getting ordered tonight!

I might have to treat myself, just to laugh at the fact that I will have no similarities to a pro's swing!

Thanks again for your post, it sure is great to know that there are other people out there who are new and learning the game even though it's quite late for me.  I'm not one to regret many things but I do wish I had started learning earlier in life........ que sera sera!

All the best for your swing and I will keep an eye out for your progress.  Good luck, Matt

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
