Hello,
do you know any test or review where they compare the new Mizuno MP-T Wedge against the Spin Milled Vokey Wedge from Titleist?
I would like to know how they perform.

Thank you very much!

Here's some talk about them.

Note that those are all the old MP-T model. The new model has a lovely C-Grind sole. We wrote them up just today, in fact (not a review - just the release):

http://thesandtrap.com/bag_drop/mizu..._and_much_more We plan to have a review of them in about 4-6 weeks. Since I've been using Vokey Spin-Milled wedges since before their introduction, a comparison is inevitable.

Hello,

I high suggest you good try some Mizuno wedges, since you play MP-32 irons. Before playing my current wedges MP-R's 52/58, I played Cleveland's just like you. I had trouble with the combo becuase the Cleveland's cast wedge and the Mizuno forged iron. Since switching to mizuno wedges with my irons I have been more consistant since the feel is the same. Doesn't it make since to have a wedge that is forged as well to keep the feel the same, I know it has made a different in my game.

That's the point! I was wondering why there are only a few forged wedges because they say, that you have a better feeling with forged ones.

Despite that, the spin milled are not available in the specs i think i need.
my pitch is 47 degrees and i would like to have my gap at 51 or 52 degrees and the sandwedge at 56 degrees.

do you prefer the true temper wedge shaft oder would you suggest the rifle spinner wedge?

right now i think i would get the projectx for the gap wedge as well an for the sand wedge the rifle spinner wedge so that i have a club for the high spin shots.

i'm probably the only person that had mizuno mp-t custom fitted with true temper dynalite stiff shafts...but i like the way it feels like my irons...easy to control.

I would keep the shafts the same as well. Keep the feel of your wedges as close as possable as to your irons.

I felt that the 52/56 degree set up were to close together, which is why I went with a 53/58 degree set up to expland my yardages.

Well, I'll throw in my 2 cents.

I became a Mizuno convert a couple years back with my MP30's. I just love the feel and control they provide!

Naturally I wanted to play the Mizuno Forged wedges as well. I needed a 52, 56, and a 60. I did exhaustive testing between the MP-R's, Cleveland CG10's and Vokey Spin Milled.

After testing, it's just my opinion, but the Vokey's are in a class of their own. I cannot explain why. I am not a big fan of over the top spin - nor gimmic type styles - I just need a precise instrument to execute delicate short game shots.

The others feel like nice golf clubs, and perform well. The Vokeys feel like a finely tuned instrument. I bought a 56.10 and a 60.04 and am happier than ever with the short game shots. The 56.10 is the best out of sand of any sand wedge I have ever owned.

I bought a 52 MP R to see how it would do, and while nice, I just wonder what a Vokey Oil Can 52 could do for me now. (No spin milled in 52*)

I don't want to bring back the Forged versus Cast debate again, that has been debated here more times than anyone wants to remember, but . . .

try several brands of wedges before you buy. . . that way you don't miss something that can surprise you! Don't lock onto the idea that a cast club can't feel sensational!

Another reason why I switch from Cleveland wedges to Mizunos, was the amount of weight in the head. The Mizunos seemed to be a bit more heavier, it took some time to adjust but really love the additional weight. (I am not sure if the Mizunos are heavier, but they seem heavier to me).

Thank you for your replies...

I will test the spin milled vokey and the mp-t anyway but I really like to get different opinions on that topic.

Everardo should key in here - I just asked him the same question. I'll write out what I believe his answer would be, but you should wait for his actual answer before fully believing everything I say.

The Project X is a fairly stiff shaft, while a lot of wedge shots are partial, feel-based shots. Even the True Temper "Wedge" flex is actual an S200 shaft - a little more feel, a little lighter, etc. Wedges should have a little more flex in their shafts to help with the partial shots. Not so much with the pitching wedge, but for anything > 48°, either the TT Wedge Flex or the Spinner shaft is usually greatly preferred over the Project X.

In my opinion, that's bad advice. You don't hit your lob or sand or even your gap wedge in quite the same fashion as your 7-iron. Well over 50% of your wedge shots are likely to be partial shots. Same can't be said for any of your other irons.

On that, I'll simply say this: if Bob Vokey or Titleist felt that they could sell more clubs by forging wedges instead of casting them, they would. Clearly they're doing something right. Casting technology has improved a lot in the past decade.

In other words, I think the differences between casting and forging are overstated these days.

there is so much contradiction about this issue that i wouldn't know what advice to take. The best thing to do is go and hit every damn wedge going and see what you like, draw a shortlist and try them ones out a bit more etc etc.

    • I would be happy to hang out with you guys but as of now @DaveP043 and I are planning to stay in Cranberry Township. There’s a bit of travel between the two places, but maybe we can work something out.
    • Personally I have no issues with even the steroid-era figures such as Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa being inducted into the hall. My reasoning there is we already have nearly a half-dozen known steroid users in the hall, including those inducted after their steroid usage was already common knowledge. David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez (as well as Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, and Todd Helton) both failed the same wave of anonymous drug tests that saw Sammy Sosa shunned by the nation, and he's in the hall. Piazza admitted to using Andro (the same thing McGwire was juicing with) and amphetamines. Greenies were commonplace in MLB clubhouses and used by countless stars, alongside cocaine, from at least the 60's all the way up until the early 2000's. There are at least a dozen other pros in the hall that have allegations from teammates who claim to have directly witnessed steroid usage. Even Nolan Ryan has stated that he thought steroid usage was a widespread problem in the sport as early as the mid to late 70's. I'm of the opinion that once that genie is out of the bottle, and it most certainly has been for decades now, it's a bit silly to pretend those already inducted are somehow morally superior for being not quite as astronomically and suspiciously good at baseball when using steroids. Hitters were using steroids, pitchers were using steroids (funny how we saw the number of complete games fall off a cliff at the same time that steroid enforcement was being ramped up), it's an even playing field as far as I'm concerned. To quote The Incredibles, "When everyone is super, no one will be".  As for Pete Rose it would appear that by all accounts he never bet as a player and only ever bet on his own team while managing. It's understandable to prohibit any involvement in the sport after it was discovered, but it's not something that gave him any advantage in reaching his level of achievement in the sport.  As for Joe Jackson, I personally don't think he should have been banned in the first place. He actively refused the bribe, tried to report the plot to the owner of the White Sox, and his alleged confession only occurred after the White Sox's team attorney got him roaring drunk immediately prior to the grand jury testimony. Every confessed conspirator also stated that he never attending any of their meetings or discussed plans with them. Not to mention the fact that if he WAS trying to fix the series he did an absolutely terrible job of it considering he was the best performing player on either team by far setting a World Series record that stood until 1964 and went error-free while gunning down at least one runner at home plate.
    • Day 7: 5/13/2025 Range day today. Had a really good session. I was able to pull a mirror over into my stall and make a slow-mo swing in the mirror and then try to duplicate the swing to hit a ball.  Felt really good today. Tomorrow will be league night.
    • I have not posted here for a long time, but thought I would share a couple of things.  I have been working neuro-pathways. the message center from the brain to the muscles. When we move the body in new ways new pathways are created and when we stop moving certain muscles the pathways shrink. The body is very intelligent and it tries to be efficient , only using what is needed for the task at hand. I have working with the cable machines. Now most people who use the cable machines know the muscle gets a more even workout with the cables vs dumbbells . but what I did was pick out several exercises and did them on every setting on the cable machine, one arm at a time. At first glance it seems like the settings are so close it does not make much difference until you get to a lower setting, but I find it does. I used very light weights and did like 5 reps per exercise. We will see what I discover
