Nobody watching this one?

Pretty good looking season thus far. The lock player Matt E. is already off the show. Couldn't believe that. I'm thinking Hiroshi, Anthony we be in for the long run. Josh is going to go pretty far too.

Nobody watching this one?

I was really glad to see Matt Every booted off.

I also think everyone who said they're looking forward to watching that guy win majors (and on and on) must have had their brains baked. Better players (in college) than him have failed to even hold a PGA Tour card consistently.

I wish they'd spend a little more time on challenges than repeatably getting comments from the players about each other; make it less of a soap opera.

I was really glad to see Matt Every booted off.

TGC gave it away by saying this episode will have the most

shocking elimination yet. I would have liked to see him stay because he sure had an 'attitude'. I'm really looking forward to the A-God fireworks.

I got to go with Hiroshi to win it, he looks the most confident.

Right now I like the Aussie, James because he is talented, not making a big fuss out of just about everything, *cough cough* Anthony *cough cough*. He is slowly moving up the leader board and has been solid so far.

Yeah, I'm with you on James. He seems like he's got a good shot.

iacas, what could you have against Matt E? To me he seemed like a normal, kick back and relaxed kid. He called things like he saw them. He didn't ever step out of line. Hell, he didn't have the chance.

I think you should all give Anthony a second look. I think he's getting a bad rap for a supposed attitude. He's confident in his ability. You have to have that if you are going to be good. He only really verbalizies his confidence in front of the one-on-one interview camera. Yeah, in front of his competitors he gives a fist pump or two. But they are small. I'd be excited to hit the shots he's hitting in front of the rest of the field. Let alone the cameras for all of us to see. He's got a nice looking swing, and what looks like some solid skill.

It's a pretty good show but I prefer the concept of the past shows. Part of the reason is that I could relate with the golfers in the past seasons. In the past Big Breaks there was a small light in the back of my head that I could actually compete (at least in the initial stages of the show, no way would I have had the chance to win against Donatello and some of those good players) but now, see you later. There isn't a chance that I could match up with an ex Walker Cup member. So I guess this season glorifiying the players achievement is interesting but sort of takes away from part of the show, at least in my opinion.

I really like Benoit, Hiroshi and Kevin. I believe that Hiroshi has the best chance of taking it all. He made some really good shots and seems to handle the pressure better than the other players. I thought that Josh's shot to eliminate Matt E was awesome. He really stepped up and just nailed it.

You know what I hate the most about some of these guys, are the yardages they say they hit when in reality, they hit some other club in the bag. Example: In the first episode, the contestants played in a challenge were they had to pick a yardage and land the ball on a green within the circle. Joshua says he picked a 9 iron from 165 yards and blew the circle. In this latest episode, the guys in the elimination challenge are hitting an approach shot to a green from 175 and 185 yards respectively. Everyone said they were hitting a 7 iron from 175 yards with the wind in their face and some guys were even blowing the green. Same thing with the 185 yard marker. Most everyone says they're hitting a 6 iron from that yardage with the wind in their face and some guys blew the green. Give us a "Big Break".
I'm tired of hearing these inflated club numbers and yardages from all of these club makers and golfers who are trying to make the rest of us think that they're above the rest.

iacas, what could you have against Matt E? To me he seemed like a normal, kick back and relaxed kid. He called things like he saw them. He didn't ever step out of line.

My problem wasn't so much with him at all, but more the ego fellatio everyone else seemed to be falling all over themselves to give him.

He hit some of the worst shots that day. By far. He missed the earth with a hybrid in the driving challenge. If others had called it like he saw it - as I agree Matt did - I wouldn't be glad to see him gone. As it is, and because I was sick and tired of hearing about how great he was and was going to be, I'm glad he's gone. Nothing against him at all... just against the constant ego fellatio he received (through no fault of his own).
I think he's getting a bad rap for a supposed attitude.

I don't think any of the things he's done have been that bad. I think he should have let the "Fore!" go because he did nearly bean the guy, but a subtle little fist pump? C'mon - if that gets under the skin of all those other guys I'd keep doing it if I were Anthony!

It's a pretty good show but I prefer the concept of the past shows.

I like the concept of having a cut and I like the ongoing scoring. I think it'll help to keep very good golfers who have one bad day in the show, and that should lead to a better finish.

I agree 100% with this. I think he will be around for a long time. I'm not sure what everyone has against him. Plenty of the other players show emtion as well, even a couple fist raises/fist pumps as well, but nobody seems to mind then.

If I were them I would start worrying about themselves and their own game. That one guy, Kevin, what a joke he is. He justs whines about how all his life he has come up empty, etc etc. Oh poor me, poor me. What is he even doing there? FWIW, I wasn't a fan of Matt E either, everyone was falling all over him but he didn't really execute any shots. He was another who seemed more worried about Anthony than himself.

Bingo! He's already got a mental edge on them, he should keep it going.

I do enjoy the format of the competition I was referring to the level of play. The show used to be a reality show that sort of included your run of the mill player, there was a far greater mix in past seasons. This season is stacked and although that was their intention it just takes a small bit away from the show.

I dont really pay attention to what clubs they are hitting or whatever because honestly I dont really care. But I do remember a couple times someone saying how the ball goes farther there because of the thinner air. I dont know the elevation of Mesquite compared to sea level but I'm sure it has an effect and is making these guys hit the ball further than they normally do.

I'm tired of hearing these inflated club numbers and yardages from all of these club makers and golfers who are trying to make the rest of us think that they're above the rest.

I dont feel as though the players are trying to pump themselves up to be better than everyone. I think they are just giving details about the shot to the camera. The Golf Channel probably tells them to give yardage and club choice anyways. I just dont get the tone from them that they are trying to make it sound like they are above anyone else at all. Besides everyone hits it different yardages and they hit what they hit.

    • ..maybe 1 shot HC change might be a good starting point..
    • Yeah, I have a similar view. I was in the team of 2 and we got down 5 after 5. Get 1 pt if win the hole - whatever that game is called. We lost it 3 down with 2 to play so almost saved it. After the first hole when the single did a putt, then dropped a second ball, made a slight adjustment and sunk it, we thought it wasn't right. We couldn't do anything with handicaps etc so we just made them wait between putts - usually just one of us to putt. We were a 23 and 25 handicappers (probably playing to about 28) and the single was a 16 handicapper, but somehow had a HC of 20 (so that is 1 HC pt already). In terms of making it fair, and changing HC (HC1 + HC2 / 4), I think maybe adding 2 HCs to the double (or taking 2 HC off the single (after the adding and div by 4) might make it fair. Also maybe making a rule that the single couldn't change clubs for the second hit. Hard to say from that one game but possibly: - 2 shot HC adding - can't change clubs for second shot - need to have other team putt in between their 2 putts   Not sure. Do you think you'd still win or have these rules made it unfair the other way? Cheers for thoughts..
    • In that case I double down on my comments - I'll take the single guy and I know if I'm in that match against two similar players I'm pretty confident that I'm the favorite.
