I have been over the top with a bad driver slice for too long. I just took 4 lessons last month but still am taking divots to the left with either a controlled hook , a left straight shot or a slice. My teacher wants me to be able to hit a push draw but when I try to change my swing path I get bunched up and can barely hit the ball. I have been working on an aggressive hip bump to try and get into the slot. Any tips or drills?

I played Baseball/Softball for over 50 years  (no, really, I started at 7 years old and quit at 62) and then when I started taking golf seriously, I had a big fade/slice.  I took lessons, but that didn't help initially, it screwed me up like it sounds happened to you too.  Then one day my local pro said set up normally and then try to hit the ball on the back inside quarter, swinging very slowly.  Set the ball on the tee with the logo directly at the back of your target line, then rotate it 1/4 towards you.  Now don't think of anything other than hitting the logo (very slow swing at first).

    • Three great shots from McIlroy's group (Smith and the US Am Champ) on 12.  The amateur won closest to the pin, although I doubt the group had a bet going.
    • I thought complaining about Fleetwood's appearance was my schtick   For real though, I agree with you, and when I see that, especially in a major, I'm confused.  When I play in a multi-day event at my club, I plan my clothing in advance because I want to look my best.   If no one else, their clothing sponsors should do this for them.  I think Nike used to do this with their stable -- I used to look forward to seeing their posts on the Facebook before majors to see how Tiger and Anthony Kim and friends would be dressed. Meanwhile, Jason Day is dressed fairly blandly today.  Who saw that coming?
    • The hell is Thomas Fleetwood wearing? He looks like a divorced dad from 1998. Even the shoes are hideous
    • I was wondering this and haven't seen it on today's broadcast OR yesterday's, but apparently Cabrera did show up.  He currently has the third highest score for the week and is playing his last hole of this year's event.  I'm not particularly keen to see him, but I was wondering if he was present, and he seems to be.
    • Hatton hit 18 GIR.  That's incredible.   Rory's tee shot on #8 reminds me of a TV show, Get Smart, that I enjoyed watching as a kid.  The protagonist would often say "missed me by that much."  Rory missed avoiding the bunker by that much.
