An ace is a much bigger accomplishment compared to making a deuce on a par4.    I have recorded 12 par4 deuces.................to 1 ace.  My longest deuces were from 228yds and two from outside of 150yds, but they don't mean anything compared to the ace.  My sole ace was a 164yd 8-iron and this shot reigns supreme over all the deuces!! (by a large margin)

A par5 double-eagle reigns supreme..........With that said, I'd rather record my 2nd ace than a double eagle!!!    I'd much rather join the exclusive group of AM golfers with multiple aces!!!!   ....because anyone can get lucky once.......LOL    If you have 2 aces..now THATS saying something!

So long as your eagles on par fours were from outside of about 120 yards or so, I would say those are more impressive. You have to hit TWO good shots to give yourself a chance at those, you don't get to tee the ball up, etc.

Players often have more 2s on par 4s because… there are more par fours in a round of golf than par threes.

Additionally, par threes make the "approach" shot more difficult because they don't have a difficult tee shot to help protect their par for the hole. So that adds a little difficulty to acing a par three. But not enough IMO that it puts it ahead of eagling a par four from roughly the same distance.

In 22+ years of playing the game, I've got 1 ace and 3 eagles.

2 of those 3 eagles came on the same hole... an extremely short par 4 (235 yards)... the other on a shortish (479 yards) par 5 earlier this year.

Outside of the ace, none were holeouts.  I've only ever holed out from more than 100 yards once, and that was the ace.  I've had 2 hole out birdies from between 60 and 90 yards.

I don't have exact numbers on birdies, but... since 2010, I've only made 38 birdies.

So... as a disclaimer, my stats are probably among the last you want to use as a comparison.

I've had more eagles than I can count on par 5's.  I've had half a dozen eagles on par 4's, but from driving the green.  My course when I was growing up had several par 4s between 260 and 330yds that I drove often enough.  It's the same course that I got a double eagle on a 520yd par 5 and a hole in one on a 170yd par 3.  Yesterday at my newer home course, I hit my 2nd into a 510yd par 5 to 1ft short of the pin.  I must say, I was a little bummed to have left that shot short...

If you have a good chip and run game, an eagle on a short par 4 is probably more likely than a par-3 ace. It also helps to have a short par 4 that you own.

The former Eagle Green GC (now subdivided) in Denton, Texas had one such hole. No. 11, a slightly uphill 270-yd. par 4, had a fairway trough that funnelled shots up to the right front of the green.  In dry weather, a driver draw would run most of the way to the fringe. About twice a year, I would have a tap-in birdie putt of a foot or less. Came close, but never got the eagle chip to go.

4 eagles to date including a 2 on a par 4. No aces. IMO, there is so much chance involved in both that impossible to gage which is harder simply because you are typically not trying to hole it out unlike a 8 foot putt deliberately.

'Likelihood' would point to a 2 on a par 4 easier IMO.

I understand your point, but they're still not the same for me.  I'd trade my deuces in a minute to have a 2nd ACE plague to keep my current one company!!!  LOL  For me, par4 deuces are a dime a dozen...My 12 par4 hole-outs:  1 from 228ds, 2 from 150-155yds, 1 from 101yds, 1 from 80yds, 4 from 50-75yds,  1 from 40-45yds, and 2 were chip-ins.  yes, I agree that some of the <100yd hole-outs are cheap deuces.

The fun part is my three longest par4 hole-outs were after poor tee shots that missed the fairway!!!   At least for me, none of the deuces are "Plaque" worthy...  I want another ACE!!    With respect to par5 eagles, there are too many to count.

Don't even get me started on the topic of par3 length holes being called par 4s, etc, etc...
