Thats the questions upgrading my set so I have some decent irons. gonna get a 4,6 and either 9 or PW. which do you guys use more.... I use my PW because it feels better, but it could use an upgraded, but so can mine 9.

Why would you switch out individual irons?

You really want the same brand and model for a good portion of your irons. I've seen some players use a different long iron. Also players tend to use different make or model wedges. Primarily you have 4 or 5 thru pitching wedge in the same make/model so that you have consistency.

I use my PW when it's needed, same with my 9 iron. Find yardage, choose club, see ball, hit ball ;)

I'm guessing he takes the pre-1920 approach to set composition.

no everyone is giving me some grief about this. but i can pick up individual callaway for 15 a piece, I cant spend 300-1000 for new clubs right now. my clubs are northwestern blades from the like 1975 so yes upgrading for less than 100 dollars will suit me well. Also everyone is saying go here or there. I live in the middle of nowhere and as for lessons, nowhere within an hour gives lessons so im on my own. trying to meet locals and learn as much as I can.

you guys are right, started pricing it out so now stuck between Miz mp57, Rocketballz HP, adams idea a12 os...anybody hit these. I can have clubs custom fit. just can afford any of the stores used.

Agree with other posters about keeping set congruent. However you asked about PW or 9i. I use each differently and use/need both depending on shot. PW set up with DG Spinner+ and 9i set up with KBS Tour 110g. Probably didn't help.

    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
