I have been striking the ball much better over the last few weeks but I still have a bad push every so often. Ball is practically pin high but right instead of on the green. I know it's hard without a video, but does the push come from a non square club face? Or is there something else major I could be doing wrong? Thanks!

Your ball starts where the club face is pointing and moves away from the path. So it's likely that if your hitting a straight push, you have an in to out swing (your club path is traveling slightly to right) and your club face is square to your path (but would be aiming right of your target). Does that make sense? If you close your club face slightly and make the same swing, you will hit a draw that starts slightly right of target and draws back left.

Yes. Lots of inconsistencies in my game and I'm sure swing path is at the top. Feels good not to top or chunk shots as much. Now just gotta get em to go more towards where they need to be And as far as draw shots, if I don't take that same swing path and have a closed club face I'm sure that's an ugly outcome? Thanks

Club face is pointed right at impact. If it's a straight push, the face and path basically match.

The fix probably isn't to just "close" the face more on the downswing. Recommend starting a swing thread and check this out.

    • Can you elaborate on this?  There's a par-4 hole at the course I've played the most (was my home course for over a decade, now 50 miles away but I still go and play there) whose green is below the fairway and I realized recently it's one of three holes on the course I've never made birdie, despite that I often have a short iron into the green for my second shot.  It isn't even that I haven't made birdie, but I realize I often don't hit the green.  My typical play of the hole is to have a near-GIR and sometimes I get up and down, but not as often as I would if I were trying to 2-putt.
