A hobby within a hobby. I love searching Goodwills, yard sales, flea markets, etc. looking for vintage clubs. Buy the ones that look promising, try them out at the range, keep the ones I like, and trade in the ones I don't at a local Play it Again sports. Lots of fun and quite the money maker. Lol Got $10 credit for a wedge I paid $2 bucks for. No dirty Scott Cameron putters yet. :-) This morning I found a whole set of irons 5-sw for $12. I took the 6 iron with me to the range and oh my I've never been more accurate and I was hitting it longer than my other clubs. I have steel shaft and these are graphite so maybe I found the shaft for me? I have tried graphite before and preferred steel in the past. The crazy thing is I tried researching the club online and can't find any info anywhere. I was wondering if anyone could help. On the sole of the clubs is the number of the iron in red and the word classics..... Cavity backs with the Answer TM. The W is in red with it's ends spreading across the other letters. P.T.G. In red in the corner. The shaft starts black and the top changes to red halfway down. Answer Master Torque HMG R flex. Answer on the grips too. Ok, I guess the company name was Answer. :-P Anyone ever hear of these clubs and where I can find more info? I can post some pics another day if anyone is interested. I know I have to give them another look at the range soon. The kicker for me is that they are right handed. Just when I thought I had things all figured out.

If you're spelling Answer correctly and the spelling isn't "Anser" then they are probably some cheap knockoffs of the Ping Anser line.

Yeah, they sure look like them. That's the problem I am having finding out more about them online. If you type in Answer golf or Answer irons Ping Anser comes up for every link. Lol. I hope to take them out for 9 holes today. I have been looking at a set of Pings at our Play it Again Sports. I had given my set of Cleveland Vas irons to a friend hoping he would caught the golf bug like me. Instead they have sat untouched in the same spot for months. I saw this set and thought I would just swap them out since he isn't using them and trade in the Clevelands toward the Pings. The Pings are orange dot though and i'm a black, and I just can't believe how good I hit the six iron at the range. Never tried graphite shafts before in my irons so maybe that is the difference. If I shoot lights out today I'm certainly going to surprise the guys Saturday for our big championship showing up with a right handed set of irons I got at Goodwill this week for $12 after playing left all year. :-P

Sweet. Thank you. Wonder what other clubs they made. I just got back from the range comparing my 5,6,and 7 irons and the Answers were head and shoulders above the rest. A good 15 yards longer and straighter. I must have found the perfect graphite shaft for me. I can't believe I'm changing things up again. Haha

Yup. Thus the name Answers. Very happy with these unless I find some Ping Eye 2s with graphite shafts. :) Playing my first round with them Saturday. Dialing in my distances will be the challenge now.

Iron play was strong today. Definite keepers. My buddy shot lights out 6 over par. Distant 2nd place for me with a 52. Struggled off the tee. Picked up a Tom Watson adamsgolf gap wedge for $3 at the clubhouse though. :-)

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
