Amen.Amazing how fast folks give up on new club and trade it in.

I think the box stores are partially responsible for this.  I always bring my current club with me when I test a new club just to compare the numbers to something that is known.  I've seen numbers on the flight monitors pretty jacked up at times, I'm not sure if it's intentional or just lack of knowledge in setting the machine up.  The numbers I got when I tested the Great Big Bertha were 20 yards longer than I was getting on the course and at the range with my Ping G30 SF Tec.  I then hit my Ping on the simulator and the Ping was only about 5 yards shorter than the GBB.  Only conclusions I can draw is I swing a lot harder in a simulator than I do during a round (which I doubt) or the numbers are jacked.

Had I not brought my Ping, I would have left the store expecting to get an extra 15-20 yards when in reality it was 5 yards which isn't bad, but not 20.  I like the look of the M1 so I'll give it a test and I'll bring my Ping to compare it to.

Smart.  You take the variable of the broken or uncalibrated monitor out of the equation as long as you measure it relative to your own driver.

"Oh, look at that, I hit the new $400 driver 782 yards on average.  Cool.  Oh, my old driver goes 781?  Huh, go figure."

I wish I came up with it on my own, but I'm doing some consulting and marketing work for a local golf store and the pro there was the ones that suggested it to me.  I merely pass  it along as a good piece of advice I've received.

I have been playing with the M1 for over a week now, I really like the feel and the sound. Is it going further? (102 averge swing speed, 9.5 set to loft at 11deg, stiff Kurokage TINI )if i flush it, it appears to be about 5+ yards more than my R15. not all the time, but a couple of times per round Im alittle further down the fairway. I like it and there are a couple of no upcharge premium shafts options. I think taylormade really has something here.

Thanks @Spitfisher give it a try before I settle on next years driver, thought the G30 will be tough to beat.  I have the M1 and the new King Cobra on the list to try, though I'm not sure I'll spend $450 - $500 for an occasional 5 yard boost.  Did you test the driver at lower loft to see if there was a difference?

The premium shafts make it more confusing because it seems everyone has a different opinion on which shaft is the best shaft.
