Planning your Shots before you play

Look guys, I planned out a 72 run on the course. My Game Golf shows just how lousy one has to play to shoot a 90 or 95.

I actually shot a 72 recently, one over par71. It wasn't exactly picture perfect golf. If I was to plan a round where I hit it that day wouldn't be it with few exceptions.

I started my season doing this before tournaments because, across the board, the courses we were playing were courses I hadn't seen because I'm so new to the area.

Initially, I plotted every 'ideal' shot... then I quickly figured out that, shooting between 90 and 100 means that my 'ideal' shots may happen a handful of times a round.  Instead, I've shifted to plotting out what areas to avoid.

If there's an area running away from the green towards a hazard, I know to do everything I can to avoid that side.  It's helped in most cases... but there are still times when I'll KNOW that left is bad and I'll hit left, or short is bad and I'll still come up short.  Such is the game of a 17+ handicap.

Still... it's nice to have an 'ideal' image planned out, so... I still take a look on Google Earth or Google Maps at the course to give myself an idea of what I'd like to do.
