The goal of the game is to shoot lower scores, not to play with blades.

Callaway XRs, great club and long. I traded in my Pings for the Callaway XR, never looked back.

Today I traded my Callaways for a set of Ping GMax - different strokes for different folks.

So my E8 irons came today I was at work, hoping to get out at least once or twice with them to see how they play.

So as you can see I pulled the trigger and picked up the E8's, hoping to see a difference in forgiveness from the Exotics CU irons. Thanks to all who provided input on this topic.

  • 1 year later...

Note : Maybe I should of kept my E8 irons, Though an SGI iron, I hit them very well... I mean I hit my EXi irons beautifully at times, but I loved the forgiveness I got out of the E8's maybe I should have gotten EXd's instead.

u could always change balls, maybe go with a firmer feel ball that gives lil more distance. when i was hitting my blades i felt like i lost 10y on each club but once i started to get more shallow i gain 10-15y and loved em. then i wanted lil more forgiveness like u so i went with the apex cf16 and ended up hitting my 7i 180-185y. had em for a month and still haven't took em out. or maybe start looking at different shafts.

WITB:
Taylormade M2 - 10.5º
Taylormade M2 - 3w 15º
Callaway - Apex CF16 9i-3i
Vokey - 46º F Grind
Taylormade MG - 54º, 60º
Scotty Cameron - Newport M1  - 4.5º
Taylormade - TP5X #7

@proto, at least I don't as an old pro told some players (never me), I don't have a LOFT issue. I don't think it's the shaft. I was dynamically fit by a great fitter for my EXi irons. (One who fit me in all twelve custom fit categories). I recently decided to try out the Bridgestone e7 from last year, I'll see if that lowers my trajectory a bit. As of late, I've been hitting some more consistent irons, just very high, lower than last year... My 7-iron is my 155-160, I think I have 158 taped on the shaft. I feel I could get 170 out of it, if I could flatten out the trajectory just a smidge. But lately I've been working more on learning how to properly hit a fuller wedge, which I have a lot of PW or less holes at my home course, if I got that down, hell I might shoot a 72 or 73 this year.
