Played a practice round. Did a non-stop action vlog, but it's really boring :-P

Shot 4 over on 9 holes in the form of one triple, a bogey and 7 pars. I might break up the video and just show a few swings in my swing thread.

Hit 2 large buckets off grass at the lower range after work and waiting to pick up my son at tutoring. Getting more shots to push. I think the next practice round I'm going to put down alignment rods to help me with my pulls.

1.25 large buckets*** today. I got 20 degrees of push! I loaded up my wrists with my wrist loading drill and the balls went 30 degrees left from where they were going, finally. . .

Hit my 8i for most of the bucket except to warm up using my all my clubs up to 3W. Then experimented with the pushed shots a lot.

***The buckets were anemic. I actually pushed the button on the machine 6 times today. The reset my key twice. They finally filled it again. . .Going to the lower range this evening.

I did more mirror work at the gym. Focused again on centered hip turn to A4. On the downswing, I want to get my hand a bit further out at A5 to help prevent my right elbow from getting stuck and shallow the shaft.

Had a lesson today. We played 2 holes working on course strategy and then headed for the practice putting green. We worked on my stroke and distance control.

Almost 2 buckets in the evening. The balls are going farther for some reason? 80F overcast and damp conditions. Wet range balls.

Im stuck indoors today. Hit balls into my net in the garage focusing on my backswing. I focused on keeping my right arm straight to try and shorten my swing up a bit. I had the aid of a swing extender to accomplish this. I had around 50 reps at a nice slow pace.

Putting practice, and chipping.

Looking to start matching swing weights, and playing around with that a bit.

Testing out my spare driver where the head detaches from the shaft all the time. The glue keeps coming loose. The club maker is one of the best too! That's why I have a spare. . .

Out in the garge hitting balls into my net again. Had a liitle more than 50 reps of slow and easy swings working on my backswing. Im proud of myself because usually I would have given up on this by now but Im sticking to it through thick and thin.

Worked on putting on the living room carpet. Focusing on matching back stroke and through stroke lengths. I have an alignment stick with elictrical tape on it in 6" increments to help with this. Putting is something I dont put enough time into but this winter Ive dedicated part of my practice to this. Putting wasca huge weakness for me this year.

Played 9 today in 47F temps. Warmed up in a hitting net and focused on my priority piece of centered hip turn.

Hip turn drills before my round early this morning.

Another 19 holes, after some late morning commitments, 2 large buckets.

4 of those holes using only a 7 iron, made some decent shots. 2 pars one bogey, one double.

Sorry for the late update!!!

2015-10-14

Hit my 3 wood 10x off the tee and 15x off the deck.  I don't have a hybrid in my bag and my 4 iron isn't quite doing it for my 210-200yd approach shots.  The 15* TM Super Speeder would be a little much for 215yd approach but never really hit any woods/hybrids off the deck, so just getting trying to get in the groove on that type shot before purchasing a 22* hybrid soon.

2015-10-15

Worked more on transferring my weight forward on the downswing by hitting30-35 balls in the net

2015-10-16

Played 18 holes with my brother...shot a 83 and struck my irons a lot better

2015-10-17

Putted on the turf at home during 2 halftimes..... 4ft and 7ft

2015-10-18

Hit balls in the backyard net and record my swing from he side;

Mirror work at the gym. Worked on back swing to A4, centered hip turn and staying in flexion. Downswing: worked on A5 shallower shaft and getting the hands further out. All were done mapping style and only up to 50% swing speed when I did it continuous.

Practiced putting. Finally beat my friend 2 rounds of 9 holes out of 3. He's really good. I needed to make three 20 to 25 foot lag puts to do so. The last one was 22 feet and he was 18 inches from the pin. I got into my Jack Nicklaus stance and put the ball right into the hole! :-D

Hit balls at the range today. Probably 90 or so focusing on my backswing and a steady head.

Worked on putting at home making sure my stroke was the same length back and through.

    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
