I'm sure this has been discussed many times before.  I tried searching the forum but I was unable to find what I was looking for.

I have no problem keeping my left arm straight on the backswing.  But during the downswing I start to bend my left elbow and keep it bent through impact.  I've tried holding a ball between my forearms, practicing a short left arm only swing and keeping it straight (which I'm able to do), and several other drills, but nothing seems to work.

Does anybody know of any other drills I haven't tried?  Or any advice?  I've found a lot of information online about keeping it straight during the backswing, but not much on the downswing.

I've been using a google search recently, as it gives better results. In this case, search "sandtrap.com:left arm"

Some good threads of old, although not sure they specifically answer your question about drills to try:

Fix the cause not the effect. The left arm bending is just an effect of something that's happening before it and an attempt to shorten the swing radius to avoid hitting the ground well behind the ball. Could be a sequencing issue, weight not getting forward enough, not opening the hips enough. Rather not guess so start a swing thread and get some advice.

    • I really do find the masters stuffed shirts to be insufferable. Or is it instufferable?
    • I'm hearing this morning that Robert MacIntyre may be facing some sort of discipline (probably a stern warning) for the finger incident on 15 yesterday.  It dawns on me his upbringing would have been during Tiger's prime years -- he's 29 now, and would have been in elementary school in the early 21st century.  Someone should tell him that the swearing wasn't what made Tiger great at golf.   Or John Daly (or Don January?) or whoever else we associate with both being good at golf and producing choice words on television.
