2008 PGA Tour Cards Questions

There are two things I've been wondering about PGA Tour Cards for 2008.

First, the top 25 on the Nationwide Tour from 2007 get them for 2008. But Nick Flanagan, one of the top 25, earned a battlefield promotion by winning three times. Does this mean #26 on the Nationwide Tour money list gets a PGA Tour Card for 2008, or is it just the top 25, regardless of other considerations?

Second, Jay Williamson was not a member of the PGA Tour this year. He did, however, earn $835,515 (I looked it up; that's not a stat I'd know offhand) on tour this year, which would place him in the top 125 of the PGA Tour if he had been a member. Does he gain a card from this, or just the money and then Q-School?

Thanks all.

All (not bad) he gets is the dough but won't have any problem getting "08 card.I hope, because I know him and he is a fantastic person and freind!GO JAYJAY GO.

Greetings ...

The Nationwide Top 25 is a "Hard 25", meaning that no exceptions are made for cases such as Nick Flanagan's. If you finished 26th or worse, it's either Q-School or back to the Nationwide Tour in 2008.

Jay Williamson, competing as a non-member of the PGA Tour, has earned enough money to qualify for a 2008 PGA Tour Card. He will be exempt in a category below the one for the Regular Top 125.

For those of you who have been Googling about for the 2008 PGA Tour Schedule, it is not yet out. The PGA Tour is still working on scheduling the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs around the Ryder Cup.

Keep Googling though - or Yahoo-ing, MSN-ing or whatever - you never know what you might find out there.

Greetings ...

Thank you for the information. Do you know if the "Hard 25" is a new thing? I ask because, IIRC, a 21st got in due to Jason Gore's promotion a few years ago, and I seem to think 22 people got in last year when two non-members would've finished top 20. I could be way off base on this though.

I feel the top 25 should be made up of first timers to the P.G.A. not some 40'ish past LOSER of his card. everyone gets 1 free ticket but the buck stops after that.go monday qualify like the rest

i heard they are tweaking the FedEx events such as extending the time between the events(skipping a week) so the big guys will not tend to skip a tournament like Tiger and Phil did.

Finishing in the top 25 isn't a "free ticket" and if someone qualifies for it, so be it, regardless of age. What an obnoxious thing to say.

Hey, Steve Stricker was down and out at one point... I sure wish he hadn't been allowed to come back and play with the big boys. NOT.

http://www.pgatour.com/2007/h/01/17/...007/index.html You're probably looking at filling the field unless you get through Q-School. I didn't check your handicap before I clicked 'reply', but you need to have a handicap of 2 or lower to fill the field. There are likely also mini-tours in your area as a starting point, so you can get used to tournament pressure. But many of these are more like poker tournaments, in that you're playing for your own money in an organized fashion instead of a purse put up by a sponsor.
