I am pretending to be nothing other than one with certain standards for conducting oneself. My standards happen to be different than those of Daly's.

But I thought you were a "live and let live" person? If you truly were and you simply had different standards than JD, would your opening volley in this thread be calling him a "bloviated, doughy dimpled butted, inebriated, classless, slobby piece of trailer trash"?

Everything you've said since directly contradicts your first post.
I think you don't understand the meaning of the term, " holier than thou." The term means sanctimonious, which means "pretending to be devout and righteous."

"Holier-than-thou" and "sanctimonious" do not even remotely mean the same thing:

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/holier-than-thou http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/sanctimonious Sanctimonious is essentially "full of ___"; holier-than-thou means you think you're better than someone else, which clearly applies to you vis-a-vis John Daly. I know the meaning of the words I use, and I don't toss them about casually.

Would you please translate your comment into English? I regret that I do not speak German. Thank you.

It was the equivalent of what (I think) your French comment was. I just wanted to get in on the foreign language fun :)

I got John Daly's autograph at the American Express Championship at Harding Park back in Oct 8, 2005. After his Saturday round he was interviewed with the Golf Channel and as he was walking to the club house he signed everybodies autograph who was waiting behind the ropes not skipping anyone who waited, he took his time signing autograph and chatting with the crowd.

I also heard that he gave his putter away to someone in the crowd after he missed his short putt on the 16th green to lose the tournament to Tiger in the playoff on Sunday. That person shouted sometime along the lines of "Your still my hero John"! and John walked over and handed him his putter.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
