Considering adding to the wedge collection...

Also really thinking of continuing with 'standard bounce' to slice through the lie (and using my sandwedge if it is really poor lie).

Cleveland CG10....Titleist Vokey....???

What is the suggestion and why.....

I've had my Oil Can Vokeys for about 4-5 years now, and they're ok to me. My wedge game should be a lot better than it is, but I hit my Dad's CGs this summer, and they were AWESOME.

I'm probably going to order a 54 and a 60 just like his this winter..

They set up a little nicer to me than my Vokeys...

Out of curiosity...why were your Vokey's selected in the first place instead of the Clevelands?

Also...what type of bounce do you have? Thinking of going with a 10* bounce on a 60* lob wedge...and leaving my sandwedge with the only one with any significant bounce.

I was being given equipment by Titleist at the time, and they looked good to me then. I had come off of the traditional Cleveland "rusty" wedges, and didn't mind the change, especially when the clubs were free.. but.. my opinion has changed about them

10* bounce as opposed to what? I think 10 on a 60* is a good amount, but I wouldn't go any higher, for myself anyway..

The Cleveland's 60* lob wedges come in a 10*, 12*, and 14*.

I have no problem working my shots...so don't need the thick sole which might end up pushing down the turf too much before the club face makes contact with the ball. However a slightly thicker sole might be good if I am chopping down on a ball in a potbelly bunker where I am trying to better lift the ball and not dig too deep in the fluffy sand. Guess the answer is not to hit into those potbelly bunkers.

I have both because I didn't know which is better... I personally prefer the clevleands due to its feel and shape, which in return gives me more confidence.. I odn't have the Vokey SM's but I heard that they shred up the balls, unlike the Cg's. I plan on getting rid of my vokey lob wedge because the cleveland 56 does the job better in all situations.

I went with all Cleveland because the Vokey's are notorious for shreddin through golf balls whereas the CG12s are not.

Voted Titleist because I think Cleveland is loosing the way a bit with newest models. Classics like 588´s are what I like and have.
Spin Milled´s scuff the ball, sure, but also puts tons of spin. It´s a personnal matter.

Vokey SM's 54.12 and 60.08 - perfect for the sandbelts and tight lies of Australian courses! Tried Cleveland CG10 - 2 dot - pretty ordinary campared to the Titleists.

I don't think Vokey SM's 54 comes in 12 deg of bounce. Only 10 and 14.

the Vokeys spin the ball soooo much more than any of the cleveland wedges, I tried the new cleveland's and was getting mabey a foot of spin and with the Vokey sm I was getting around 3-4, so for me it definitely the vokey's

Classic? CG10's aren't that old are they?

I switch from vokes to cg12's just recently. I actually like the feel of the cg12s more than the vokes. It is true there is less spin with the cg12s. I was shocked that I would ever leave vokeys but it happened.

No...the CG10s are not that old...only say 3 yrs old.

Here is another question for those that have played Cleveland wedges. How do you feel about the 'classic' Cleveland 588s? It is a forged wedge...and I still have fond memories of my Ben Hogan forged clubs to where I might pull them out of storage. Second question... What is Roger Cleveland doing over at Callaway?

Pretty sure Rog got out of Cleveland long ago and just recently hooked up with Callaway.

I picked up a Callaway Forged+ 60* lob wedge at Golfsmith. I swung, punched, lobbed, pitched the Vokeys, CG10, X-tours...and I decided that I liked how the Forged+ felt. I liked how it set up and how the radius sole allows the face to be opened up...yet the bottom sole continues to setup to the target. I'll try it out this weekend...but hitting on the mats at Golfsmith it sure seemed to please the eye and had a good responsive feel...

    • Long time creeper, but had to join today to ask a question. Today was playing in our clubs Sunday money group. We played all 18 holes and was settling up after the last hole. The groups about 9 guys. Most I play with every week. A few I play with once a month or every other month.  I shot well and was owe a small 3 digit amount from a few players. That's when the guy I don't play with often walks up and says he isn't paying because I had too many clubs in my bag. We walked to my bag and I counted my clubs and I didn't have too many. He then states look at the back your bag there is another club. Low and behold my 7 years daughters putter is in the umbrella hole as its been for the last year when she stated coming with me and wants to putt on the greens. All the other guys looked at him but he refuses to pay me out but pays everyone else. Whats your thoughts. All the other guys paid me out.
