+2 through the 4th hole. I had a double on the first and was looking at a bad round, but came back and parred the next hole which was the most difficult par 4 on the course, but had to scramble to do it, then easily parred the next two holes. Then it fell apart and ended up with a 90.

My best ever start was -3 through 4 holes in a club tournament. After opening with two routine pars, I drained a lucky 40 footer for birdie on hole 3. Had it not hit the center of the cup, it probably would have rolled 7-8 feet past. Then I hit a good drive, followed by the best hybrid of my life on the par 5 4th hole. When I approached the green and saw my eagle putt sitting 3 feet from the cup, I couldn't stop thinking "don't blow this." Fortunately, I made the putt and held on through most of the front 9 for a 2-under 34. It's still my best 9 hole score to date.

I'm not 100% sure, to be honest.  I think I've only ever birdied the first hole maybe once, but then I made a double on the next hole.

I'd say my hottest start that I can remember was at Disney's Magnolia Course in 2011.  I was playing with rental clubs and started bogey - par - par - par before a bunch of doubles, triples and worse found their way onto my card.

9-hole league round, early last season.  Standing on #7 tee, opponent keeping card says, 'damn dave, you're 1 under after 6 holes.  I had 2 birdies, a bogey and 3 pars thus far.

Holes 7-9 I went double, bogey, double to finish with 39 on the front side which is par 35. Nice round for me nonetheless.

My opponent wasn't trying to 'game me' or anything. He would have been thrilled had I parred out, shot 34 and took every match point from him that night. That's what I like best about my league mates.  Nobody really cares if they win or lose a match.

Here is my hottest start. I teed off #10 for my second round of the day. -4 through 4. Too bad I finished that 9 with 3 bogies and a double. Overall, it is still my 2nd best round, ever.

I was playing by myself a few years ago on a local course Eagle Valley in Carson City. There was no one in front of me, so it was just walk up to the ball and hit it. I was 2 over after 8 holes, 6 pars and 2 bogeys. That was a big deal. Then the wind came up and was blowing 30 with gusts that were worse. Finished the front in 40, and hit the ball fine on the back but came in with a 48. Regular approaches were 25 yards short against the wind, and easily the same over the green with the wind.
