Lack of TV keeps me from watching it, unless I go to my parents' place to watch it. None of my friends who golf who live nearby have a TV either. But dad has a 42" HD. So, I guess I could watch, but it isn't that big a deal to me.

Did you see Robert Allenby's take on this? http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...321769053.html

I think that the media is to blame for the fall of Australian golf. They don't advertise it enough of try to make it sound exiting. What Aussie golf needs is someone who is prepared to back it and put in a bit of money to the tournaments so that really good players will see that it is worth playing in.

What you need to realise is that in Australia we have a relatively small population for the physical size of our country and unfortunately golf is not at the top of the list for sponsors. The sponsors tend to throw their money at AFL and NRL (local football codes). The Aussie Masters is getting great TV coverage over here and the tournament is being played at an amazingly high level. With Badds, Appleby and Allenby all up there with the final round to come. If you can watch it, tune in and enjoy the scenery.

Maybe if some of you guys over there were to come out and try our courses you'd realise the quality of courses and golfers this country produces. And we always welcome fellow golfers with open arms

Sounds like channel 7 is second rate, but another great stepping stone for young Mr. Baddeley. I think Adam Scott better watch out or Badds may surpass him as best young Aussie.

Wow, dude, calm down. Punctuation is your friend. Complete sentences are also your friend. I understand that you are upset, but that was the most difficult to read and incoherent paragraph that I think I have ever read on the internet.

As Queensland doesn't have daylight saving we got to see the masters finish. It was great to watch and there was some great scrambling by Chopra for the first 3 holes and Baddeley on the final playoff hole. In Channel 7's defence, golf is not the most popular sport in the country and it was the first major news bulletin after the federal election results were finalised. I would have been upset with the decision as well but they did show a lot of hours of great coverage over the four days.

I actually think Australia golf is in a great state with more top quality players then I can remember. Sure, we don't have a Greg Norman but as Allenby said in his interview there is only 4 or 5 golfers in the last 50 years with as high a profile. Personally is doesn't bother me is most of Americans don't travel to Australia to play and I would rather the money go towards prize money and extra tournaments than appearance money for overrated players. (Obviously Tiger is not overrated but 4Million appearance money is a joke)

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
