I've been hittingmy driver verey high for a while now. On my drives I would hit it about 275 and then it would just take one bounce and then stop or then roll about 5 yards. My Driver had a stiff shaft and a lowkick so i got it reshafted to an X-Stiff with a mid kick. My driver now goes about 10 yards further and the trajectoy is a little better but still high. I have a steep swing path which maybe the reason but that is the path which I hit the straightest.

Can anyone give me some hints as to how to get my trajectory down?

I would say hitting it 290 w/ a 285 carry is not bad at all. I would change nothing.

I guess the only changes to try would be move it a little back in your stance and get your hands a little in front of the ball. Swing from the inside to "sweep" it off the tee. These would be pretty major changes from what you are used to, so like I said b4, I'd leave it alone.

There's a few different things you can try to lower your ball flight. To achieve your desired ball flight, you may have to try a combination of different things. Here's a list of what you can do in no particular order:

1). Reduce the loft of your clubhead.
2). Switch the shaft (again) to one that has a high kick-point vs. mid.
3). Change balls from a higher spinning ball to a lower one (such as ProV1 to ProV1x).
4). Change heads from one that has a lower center of gravity to one that has a higher center of gravity. Shallow faced drivers tend to have a lower center of gravity compared to deeper faced drivers.

Hope this helps,
DT

I wouldn't worry if you are hitting it 285, with a swing you feel is going straight, because this is great for a 15 handicap!!! I hit the ball high too, it is much more accurate and good to work as it does not get out of control.

Thanks guys i think im just gonna keep what i've been doing. THanks for all of your help. Tomboy, i actually demoed a lower loft driver but that actullay made the problem worse because of how steep my swing path is.

Also. with a 905r, you should not baloon the ball as these are very well designed to keep it flat and low.

Did you compare two identical drivers where each club had the same components (head, shaft and shaft flex), and the only difference was the loft of the head? If they differed in any way (aside from the loft), then I could see that happening.

Just keep doing what you are doing, 285 yard carry is fine no matter how far it rolls.

There are a couple of little things that you could try the next time you are on the range.

Change your tee height to find what postion is optimal for the ball flight you want.

Change your ball position to see if that makes a difference.

If all else fails take up croquet.

I demoed the club, forget the specs, and i told the guy and the store and he said that just becuase my swing path was steep the lower loft would create a steper launch angle for the ball and that it would go higher.

I fixed my steep plane by speeding up hip turn, pulling on the club only with my left hand, and releasing very late, ie when my left hand reaches my right pocket. For this to work, your left leg must be firmly planted in resistance to the body turn otherwise you struggle to stay behind the ball and maintain posture with so much centrifugal force. The bonus was an increase in club head speed.

    • Day 364: About an hour and a half practice session. Spent most of it at the range. Did a solid 30 minutes of work on my priority piece, with filming. I think it's improving, but will probably check in on Evolvr to make sure. Then spent the last ~20 minutes putting, working mostly on short putts.

    • Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.
    • This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
    • Day 3: Worked on backswing. Feel: Matt Wolff, Real: Not yanking it inside and getting it laid off and flat at the top.
