If we're being Technical here: turtles are often stressed by people picking them up, and other animals won't treat them the same because of the human smell. so unless it's in direct danger of serious harm, don't pick them up.

I thought that was an urban myth.....?

I know it is for birds, but leaving a young bird out of the nest may be the best policy, if your teenager moved out and some stranger dragged them back home how would you feel?

Did you read the full post? No, we are not being THAT technical. lol!

Yes, trying to cross street in directly in harm's way at break neck turtle pace from vehicles would qualify for a bit of help.

yes and no. it's not ridiculous to want to move them and it's not like they'll immediately die, but you wouldn't like it if you were out for a walk and someone picked you up and moved you across the street. it's the same for them just a lot scarier cause humans are 10x their size.

There are tons of turtles that live on the course I've been playing. I usually don't move them unless it'a unusually hot out and there's no ponds nearby. Turtles can overheat pretty easily if they aren't near shade or water.
