Hi Everyone,

I've already posted in a few threads, and ordered my copy of LSW, but thought I'd make a thread to introduce myself.

I took up golf about 10 years ago at the age of 15 and played for a few years, never really took it too seriously or had lessons. I've played a couple of rounds a year for the last few years but i'm now hoping to get back into the game and properly work on my game (hopefully starting soon with some lessons). I usually score between 100 and 110 depending on the course and how I play on the day, so I'm hoping to be consistently within the 90s within the next 12 months.

Anyway, hopefully I can take advantage of the abundant information on this forum as well as contribute too (in time).

Thanks! Unfortunately no cool story behind the avatar. Another site I use for work required me to have an avatar, I didn't want to put an actual picture of myself on there so I knocked this up in 30 seconds on MS Paint. First thing that popped in my head! I tend to just use it for all avatars now.

      Awesome. We were originally going to play Quail Ridge but ended up moving some things around and are going to do the following when we go in May Day 1 Tobacco Road Day 2 Southern Pines and Pine Needles Day 3 Tot Hill Farm There are a couple good course vlog/matches on YouTube at Southern Pines, it looks awesome.

      I got two trips lined up this year.  First, Pinehurst next month. Qual Ridge, Mid Pins, Southern Pines 😁, Mid South, Talamore. I am looking forward to playing Southern Pines since it got redone.  Second, a trip to eastern Wisconsin in early August. Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills.

      You are probably doing the right thing in having more fairway woods or hybrids in your bag than irons. Just easier to maximize ball speed for you swing speed to get the proper gaps.  A driver is teed up, so you have more leeway there. The 7-wood is probably more optimized for carry for you. A slower swing speed needs higher launch and spin to keep the ball in the air. With the 3-wood, it probably launches too low with not enough spin to keep it in the air.  If you are not going to go get lessons, or do some sort of swing speed training, go get fitted for clubs. Clearly your mix-match of equipment is not optimized.

      32 putts are average for a single digit handicap golfer. Limiting three putting is the biggest task. Speed control is the most important aspect of putting. Probably the 2nd most important is aim.  The putter is going to rotate open a bit on the backstroke. It might stay square to the arc of the putting stroke, but that does mean the face opens up a bit on the backstroke when measured against where the face is oriented at address. Go get a putter lesson as well.

      Keep us up to date with your findings, please.  I'm not looking for a putter, but I'm sure you're not alone in your venture to get the putts rolling better.
