Hello All,

34 year old here from Minnesota.   I've played golf, very casually, for most of my life.  by very casually, I mean about 5 rounds a summer for the past 15 years.   I first started keeping a handicap at the end of last summer.   After 5 founds it opened up at a 13.9.   This seems about right, and I would imagine that it has been roughly this number for over a decade.

This summer I have really been working on improvement for the first time, and I have been seeing some nice results.  Handicap down to 12.5 and trending even lower.

Because of the progress I have made this summer, simply by putting a little bit of effort into my game, I have decided to take a larger step and give myself a 400 day challenge (end of next summer) to cut my handicap in half, from my 13.9 down to a 7.   I figure that without proper goals and a proper work plan to obtain them, you'll never know what you can accomplish.

In effort to accomplish this goal, I have begun to document everything about my game.  Trips to the range; whats working and what isn't; different swing adjustment plans; highlights and low-lights of each round I play; how any equipment changes affect the way I approach the game; and various other benchmarks in my improvement.   But, in addition to these things, I also find myself writing about different courses I play and what I like and dislike about them, which is also a fun exercise.

This goal and plan to accomplish it is also what drove me to join this site as well.   I like to hear the thoughts of other golfers as and what is working and not working for them, as well as any other amusing antidotes about the game.

anyways, hope to see you all around.

Chad

Welcome to TST!

I see you're already making yourself at home, posting in a few threads, I hope you continue to stay involved.  On your way to better golf, I'd encourage you to get some good instruction.  Maybe you can find a golf instructor near you who can help, that would be great.  Another avenue is to post video of your swing here:

https://thesandtrap.com/forums/forum/13-member-swings/

There are some very good instructors here who can help you to build a better swing.  Be sure to click the "Reveal Hidden Contents" at the top of that page so you understand how and what to post there.
